_Leviticus 25:10_
_10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family._

The Lord’s model prayer elaborates on hallowing the name of the Father in Heaven. Among other things, we hallow His name by forgiving others their debts or sins (Matthew 6:9-15). It is difficult to forgive those who sin against us, but if we don’t do so, God will not forgive us either.

Jesus Christ condemned the actions of a servant – a member of the household – who was forgiven himself but refused to forgive another servant who was indebted to him. His refusal to forgive his fellow servant was offensive to the master who had forgiven him and this attracted great condemnation against him (Matthew 18:32-35). God condemns us for refusing to forgive others their debts.

Forgiving others their sins is difficult for many believers. It is also difficult for some to receive forgiveness. They feel guilty and condemned even after God has set them free through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. If the Son of God sets us free, we are free indeed (John 8:34-36). The devil and people may try to hold us captive to sin and guilt but we must declare ourselves guiltless in the Jubilee.

*Prayer:* Pray that God will touch your heart to completely forgive those who have hurt you.

_Leviticus 25:10_
_10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family._

In the acceptable day of the LORD, the Israelites were commanded to refrain from refusing to give assistance to their own families. Every family has a good number of needy and deprived people. In the Jubilee day – God’s chosen fast – the people were to pay attention to their families. In the Jubilee season, we must give our families the emotional, physical and financial support they need. This is the Jubilee – let us support one another.

The apostle Paul instructed Timothy that believers who failed to support their own families had denied the faith and were worse than infidels (1 Timothy 5:7-8). Joseph demonstrated his love for his family by bringing them into Pharaoh’s presence and requesting him to permit them to settle in the land of Goshen. He could have refused to save his brothers because they had ill-treated him but he forgave them. There may be good reasons why we should not help our family members but in the Jubilee when God shows us mercy, we must return the same gesture to others.

Failure to forgive wrongdoing on the part of our family members is the reason we refuse to help them when they are in need. It was a sin during the Jubilee not to forgive people their debts or to refuse to release their properties. There are different types of debts including sin and physical indebtedness. In this period of Jubilee, believers are admonished to unconditionally forgive – in the spirit of the love of God – those who sin against them. Those who sin against God and others should accept forgiveness without continuing to keep themselves in bo***ge.

*Prayer:* Pray that through you, help will come to your family.

_Leviticus 25:10_
_10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family._

God commanded the Israelites to observe the seventh day of the week as the Sabbath Day – it was a holy day (Exodus 20:8-11). The day was consecrated or dedicated to the Lord. The affection of the people was completely focused on the Lord. They shifted their devotion from their work to the Lord. The Sabbath was a demonstration of the fear of God.

I did not appreciate the importance of observing the Sabbath Day until I received a prophetic impression in my heart. In a brief encounter with the Lord, He told me to tell His people to give Him His Sabbath Day and He will give them their rest. The Sabbath Day belongs to the LORD. If we fail to give it to Him, we lose our rest and peace. It is an exchange – we give God the Sabbath Day and He gives us our rest.

A Sabbath is a period of rest and cessation from labour. It may look like a counterproductive time but it empowers one to live and perform better. The Sabbath is a waiting period – not a wasting period – in which we renew our strength. Those who don’t observe it become weary and faint. “A Sabbath Day” is for all time and all people. Everybody should have “his or her Sabbath Day” to enhance godliness and productivity.

*Prayer:* Pray that you will receive rest from all your labour.

Month Theme: The Jubilee

Topic: Power to Observe the Jubilee - Love

Scripture Reading: Philemon 1:1-19; Leviticus 25:8-13

Main Text:
1 Corinthians 13:1
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Love is a major factor in the celebration of the Jubilee. Sacrificial demands were placed on people and they needed love to respond. Forgiving debts and freeing slaves required love. Love made people return to their families. The apostle Paul asked Philemon to receive Onesimus for love’s sake. He admonished Philemon to forgive Onesimus who was once his slave and receive him not as a servant but as a brother. It was Onesimus’ Jubilee and the apostle Paul released him in love to go to his original place (Philemon 1:8-19).

Love is a great force in commemorating the Jubilee. Without love the trumpet of the Jubilee cannot liberate people. We would sound the trumpet, yet people would still not be free. Faith and spiritual gifts without love cannot edify people and usher them into their Jubilee. Preaching is offensive without love. Speaking with the tongues of men and angels without love equates us with sounding brass or tinkling cymbals (1 Corinthians 13:1-3).

A lot of preaching and ministrations of the Spirit are happening in our time but without the positive results of deliverance and blessing. One of the reasons for this setback is that some of the preachers and ministers preach and minister as hirelings or professionals without love.

Prayer: Pray for the ability and capacity to express love.
