Joshua has brought the Israelites into the Promised Land and conquered the land. Now he is about to die and gives the people the choice as to whether they will follow the Lord or follow the false gods of the land. He declares that he and his household will serve the Lord. They will have to choose every day to follow God just as we do, and sometimes we make the wrong choice, just as they did.

Deciding to be a Christian is not a one day or one time decision. We are tempted every day to go in the wrong direction. The Israelites promised to give up their false gods in order to follow the one God. The false gods of that time were pretty easy to identify with Baal being the most prominent. The false gods of today are a little harder to identify and can be different for each person. We all have our demons that we need to be rid of. For some, it can be the need for money, and I don't mean for survival, I mean for itself. For others it can be the best car, the best house, the latest technology, or the most gadgets. People who follow sports might choose to spend more to attend an event than they do on food for their families. We see the results of wanting power or fame all the time, and it isn't pretty! We have declared our willingness to serve the Lord, now we need to rid ourselves of our false gods that prevent us from doing this with our whole hearts.

But righteous people are protected by God and will never suffer torment. It is a foolish mistake to think that righteous people die and that their death is a terrible evil. They leave us, but it is not a disaster. In fact, the righteous are at peace. It might appear that they have suffered punishment, but they have the confident hope of immortality. Their sufferings were minor compared with the blessings they will receive. God has tested them, like gold in a furnace, and found them worthy to be with him. He has accepted them, just as he accepts the sacrifices which his worshipers burn on the altar.
When God comes to reward the righteous, they will blaze out against the wicked like fire in dry straw.

Love for Wisdom

Wisdom has been my love. I courted her when I was young and wanted to make her my bride. I fell in love with her beauty. She glorifies her noble origin by living with God, the Lord of all, who loves her. She is familiar with God's mysteries and helps determine his course of action.

Is it good to have riches in this life? Nothing can make you richer than Wisdom, who makes everything function. Is knowledge a useful thing to have? Nothing is better than Wisdom, who has given shape to everything that exists. Do you love justice? All the virtues are the result of Wisdom's work: justice and courage, self-control and understanding. Life can offer us nothing more valuable than these

Look and think beyond whatever situation you find yourself today. Be it sickness,financial problems,marital problems,look beyond it. Your situation today should not make you to limit yourself because Jesus won for you. God is encouraging you today that no man shall be able to stand before you. He said He shall be with you,all the days of your life and like the way He was with Moses. He said He will not leave you nor forsake you. The only thing He expects from you is for you to be strong and courageous. Do not allow that "I cannot do it spirit" to overcome you. Change your mentality, change your perception,position your mind and tell yourself "I can do it". Do not be afraid for the Lord is with you. Fear should not be your choice. Submit yourself to God. Resist the devil and he will from you.

In 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, the Bible stated the qualities of love.In order for us to confidently show love to one another we must possess this qualities .
The Bible says," love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy;love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;is not provoked, thinks no evil;does not rejoice in iniquity,but rejoices in truth;bears all things,believes all things,hopes all things,endures all things.Love never fails. but whether there are prophecies,they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease;whether there is knowledge,it will vanish away."

In the parable of the persistent widow,in Luke 18:1-8,because of the continuous going of the widow to the judge for a particular thing that is for him to get justice for her,the judge decided to avenge her.The widow asked for only one thing,she didn't ask for for anything else apart from justice and it was given to her.
In the book of 1 king 3:5-14 Solomon asked for only an understanding heart and that alone pleased God and it was given onto him.
in the book of Genesis 1,though God has the power to make everything on the first day,but He made them one at a time.
what is the bible telling us,we must prioritize our needs and ask God for the most important one first.Ask for only one thing,keep on asking Him until it is given unto you.Don't pray like the gentiles.Be persistent in prayers.Get what you are praying for before you ask for another one.Do not ask for more than one thing in one prayer.Ask for the most important thing that you need.
