In this sermon, Rev. Joe Plange explains that theologians categorize God's attributes into communicable traits (which humans can reflect) and incommunicable traits (which belong uniquely to God, such as His nature in Genesis 17:1). Central to His incommunicable nature is His omnipotence meaning He is all-powerful and possesses the ability to do whatever pleases Him. Drawing from Ephesians 3:20–21, Rev. Plange outlines the "seven pillars" of God's capability, highlighting that God is alive, active, answers prayers, reads our thoughts, knows and performs all things, and operates with unlimited power to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.
Despite God's unlimited power, the sermon highlights four specific scripture-based limitations dictated by His holy nature: God cannot deny Himself (2 Timothy 2:13); He cannot lie or work without our faith (Titus 1:2; Hebrews 11:6); He cannot tempt us, though He may test us (James 1:13); and He cannot change to become unrighteous (Numbers 23:19). These divine boundaries reinforce God's absolute integrity, perfection, and truthfulness.
Ultimately, Rev. Plange encourages believers to trust in God's timing, knowing He makes all things beautiful. With the assurance of His presence through life's trials and metaphorical fires, the message serves as a reminder that God is fully able and will prove His faithfulness through every difficulty and challenge.
