If the devil can't make you sin, then he'll often wage war on your mind.
Biblically, your mind is more than just your brain. Your brain is an organ that processes mental activities. The mind is a deeper, more intimate part of your being, integrating your brain, heart, and soul.
This is why we're called to renew our minds (Rom. 12:2), have the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16), etc. These verses aren't calling us to renew our brains or have the brain of Christ, but to have the inward spirit within us, our minds, to be set on the right things.
And when your mind is infiltrated with lies or focused on the wrong thing, destruction happens.
Very often, the root of one's anxiety, depression, or constant negative thinking is a symptom of the mind not being fixated on what is good, right, and true.
This is why it's so essential that we protect our minds, Christians.
Cast your mind to the cross, to the gospel, to the promises of God, to our eternal security in Jesus, to the lovingkindness of our heavenly Father, to the hope of Heaven, and you will "be transformed...so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God" (Rom. 12:2).
