‎Our Covenant-Keeping God
‎Monday, November 10, 2025

‎Key Verse
‎“I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant, Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah” (Psalm 89:3,4)

‎TEXT — Psalm 89:1-4
‎Message
‎From the Bible days to the contemporary period, God has often proved Himself to be a faithful covenant-keeper. The story is told of Esther Mahlangu who lived in Ndebele Village, South Africa during the apartheid era. Esther was an Ndebele artist and she was imprisoned for refusing to carry a pass during the apartheid regime. Known for her vibrant paintings, and faith in God, she used her time in captivity to pray and meditate on God’s promises. God showed up and intervened in her case, and she was released. Upon her release, she continued to paint using her artwork as a symbol of hope and resilience.

‎Esther’s story exemplifies God’s faithfulness in delivering His people from oppression. The message of God’s covenant with David extends beyond the implications of the Old Testament. God promises a glorified Christ and His millennial kingdom to all who will come into a covenant relationship with Him. Covenant blessings always exemplify God’s abundant mercies and flow to us through Christ’s death and resurrection.

‎Just as David was guaranteed the blessings and benefits of the initial covenant, we experience a covenant of grace that is made with us through the promised Messiah, “…the mediator of a new covenant” that those who are called may “receive the promise of eternal inheritance.” God does not make rash utterances. He is everything humans are not when it comes to constancy and dependability. A person often proves his/her natural limitation whenever he/she breaks a covenant with another person. It is a reflection of his/her innate changeability. But God is very faithful.

‎The faithfulness of God provides a sure anchor that remains steadfast amidst the uncertainties and vicissitudes of life for the true believer. As a child of God, look away from your natural human limitations, the instability of your environment, and the inconsistency of your fellow humans, and abandon all your worries and cares in the mighty hands of our dependable God.

‎Key Verse
‎“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

‎Text — 2 Kings 4:1-7

‎Message
‎The story was told of an orphanage home that ran short of food, the orphan caregiver prayed for provision, and not too long a baker came and gave the orphanage enough fresh bread to eat. In addition, a milkman whose milk cart got spoilt outside the orphanage, decided to give the children the fresh milk so that he would empty his wagon and repair it. This is a proof that God is more than enough to supply our needs. The above text and story teach us to put our trust in God, the creator who has plans and solutions to all human problems. He took care of the Widow in our text. He will take care of you.

‎A song writer says, “All I need in Jesus I find.” God has power to fulfill all His promises of blessings and prosperity for you. He actively supports His people and expresses His fatherly care toward them. He knows your spiritual, physical, mental, financial and academic needs. He is Elshaddai, your Sufficiency. However, His promises are for His obedient children.

‎Key Verse
‎“Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.” Proverbs 6:8

‎Text — Proverbs 6:6-8
‎Message

‎Saving is a system of keeping part of our income for later use. Whether your parents or other people give you money for personal use, or whether you do chores to earn money, what you do with the money is up to you. It is probably best to keep a balance between spending money and saving it. By keeping money for a while (saving), you can make sure you have money when you need it. If you spend all of it straight away on buying things you don’t really need, you may not have enough when you want to buy something special. By learning to save now, even if it is only a small amount you will be starting a good habit.

‎If you want to use money wisely, don’t rush into buying things. Rather wait and ask the Lord to help you make a good decision. But remember Jesus tells us not to store up treasure on earth (Matthew 6:19). This means that we should be careful not to heap up treasure- whether money or things – that could become more important to us than having eternal life. Money and things won’t last forever; what is far more important are the things we do to store up treasure in heaven.

‎Trust Not In Your Possessions
‎Sunday, November 9, 2025

‎Key Verse
‎“They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him”(Psalm 49:6,7)

‎TEXT — Psalm 49:1-14
‎Message
‎The story was once told of a rich man who died after a brief illness. Just before his burial, his wife requested that the casket should be opened. She then pulled out a piece of paper, a cheque bearing a large amount of money, and issued it in favour of her late husband. She placed it on his chest and then asked that the casket be shut and lowered to the grave. Explaining later she said: “It’s his money and he loved it so much; so, I thought he should take it to the grave.” Her point was not lost on all those present.

‎The Psalmist similarly sought to emphasise the futility of putting so much premium on material wealth, to the detriment of one’s soul. He addressed himself to “all ye inhabitants of the world, both the low and high, rich and poor, together.” He said it is those without understanding that trust in their wealth and boast with their riches. He said whatever they possessed was inadequate as a ransom for their souls, nor was it sufficient to redeem another person.

‎Earthly riches, irrespective of their magnitude, will be useless when death comes. Thinking that with their money they can buy fame, so “that their houses shall continue for ever”, or having streets or avenues named after themselves, only underscores the folly of people who lack wisdom. In the end, mortals die like ordinary animals. Their beautiful adornments and their glory are destined for the grave, while only the upright will count before God.

‎Every person will, one day, face a moment of death, empty-handed. At that time, what will matter is only what they invested to secure their eternal heritage. This speaks about our salvation from sin, our perfect walk with God, the service we rendered to God, and the good deeds we did to others. Now that we are still living, we must place our faith in the almighty God, pledge our obedience and allegiance to Him only, and use our material resources for the good of the kingdom of God. Jesus said: “But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” The question is, where have you invested your heart, wealth, and riches?

‎Thought for the day

‎Set not your heart on riches, for like a mirage, they soon disappear.
