Sermon Summary: Love as the Foundation of the Church

Today’s sermon reminded us that love is the very foundation upon which the church is built and sustained.
The preacher drew from 1 Peter 1:22 and Romans 12:9-10, urging us to let our love be sincere, pure, and shown in action.
He highlighted the three key mandates of the church:

Evangelism – spreading the good news of Christ.
Benevolence – showing kindness and care to those in need.
Edification – building up one another in faith.

These, he emphasized, can only be fulfilled through love. Without love, the church’s work becomes empty. Supporting this, he cited 1 Peter 4:8, James 5:19, and Colossians 3:14, reminding us that love binds everything together in perfect unity.

The sermon further stressed the Christian duty to care for the sick and weak, referencing Romans 15:1-3, 1 Corinthians 10:33, and Mark 10:45 showing that Christ Himself served others selflessly.

Finally, with Matthew 25:36-40, the preacher powerfully reminded us that in serving the sick and needy, we serve Christ Himself.
