GhMusic Publishing and Management in collaboration with Youth With A Mission(YWAM) Sea Breeze, Accra and SouthRoots International presents Principles of Redeeming Cultures Seminars 2024. A seven week course program beginning on 19th August 2024 to 6th October, 2024, with workshops on saturdays.
GhMusic Publishing, is a thriving music publishing house that seeks to aid Ghanaian composers and performers to get their music and performances to worldwide audiences so that they can derive maximum benefits from their intellectual properties and international recognition for their creations.
Youth With A Mission(YWAM, Sea Breeze Accra), is a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. SouthRoots International, is a non-profit company with NPO and PBO status. SouthRoots International provides a space for not only the development of creative art skills specifically related to performance, but also, finding a strategy for redemption for distorted strengths and purposes, to create a pathway for reconciliation using performing arts as a tool.
These organizations have collaborated to provide a safe space for christian creative artists to unlearn, learn, and relearn in order to navigate confidently in their artistry. Also, use their performance skills in performing arts, as a tool to help cause social transformation through restoration, and reconciliation.
They believe there is strength in unity and that facilitates development. Although, the individual's purpose and strength also counts and plays an important role. This is because, it is the individual strengths that come together, work, and cause change for the greater good of the society, and also, a social transformation. Now, there can be some distortions as stated earlier, as these can result in relationship break-down between individuals or groups. This is the focus, to find a way to redeem these strengths and purposes and create a pathway for reconciliation.
The event, Launching of Principles of Redeeming Cultures Seminars 2024, dubbed, "Social Transformation", held at the Center for Peace and Reconciliation, Adenta, Accra on 18th August, 2024, and began exactly 5pm, was one powerful event showcasing diversity in culture, both Ghanaian and South African.
In attendance, Mrs. Diana Hopeson (YWAM) , Dr. Emmanuel Hopeson, Lady Amy (YWAM), Speakers for the Redeeming Cultures Seminars: Shanette Martin, CEO SouthRoots Int. ; Peggie Shangwa, Founder, Page Poetry Alive; SouthRoots International, Performing group from South Africa; Sue-Livia vanWyk, Musician, Production Director SouthRoots Int.
Highlights
Peggie Shangwa from Zimbabwe, gave an overview of the event and upcoming courses taking place within the 7 weeks(19th August, 2024 - 6th October, 2024).
SouthRoots International from South Africa and a Kete Group from Ghana, showed diversity in culture with a variety of traditional dances and songs. It was so amazing, watching these young lads showcase culture through their dressing and dancing.
The Kete Group rendered an Akwaaba Performance to welcome guests coming in from all around Africa and the USA. They had another session, spicing up the performances with the Ghanaian feel.
SouthRoots International, rendered performances, honoured their call to partnership (Principles of Redeeming Cultures Seminars 2024) and also gifted the hosts (YWAM) with meaningful gifts; first gift showcases the beauty of the southern lands in South Africa, and then another, a representation of the Pacific Lands, and lastly, tea with many healing properties which were harvested and transformed on the sounthern lands.
Dr. Emmanuel Hopeson, shared a few words of encouragement after welcoming the guests. He encouraged all to respond to the call and do more for the Kingdom. He prayed for the SouthRoots International who have set themselves apart to always respond to the call, using their gifts as performers in arts, to honor God and cause transformations.
Mrs. Diana Hopeson and Lady Amy, responded to the call, and said yes to the mantle. The mantle that charges them as Christian creatives, to use their platform and performing skills in arts, to cause social transformation to bring honour to God's name and Kingdom. This was after Peggy Shangwa extended an invitation to YWAM as procedure demands.
Sue-Livia vanWyk, Musician, Production Director SouthRoots International, gave a powerful ministration, filling the mouths of persons in attendance with worship and prayers to God.
Finally, Mrs. Diana Hopeson closed the ceremony after announcing the upcoming workshops; Principles of Redeeming Cultures Seminars 2024 with the first episode,
* Culture Redemption 101 beginning - 24th August, 2024
* The Cords that bind Indigenous People - 31st August, 2024
* Domains of Society - 7th September, 2024
* Redemptive Gifts of Nations - 14th September, 2024 Afternoon session; Healing Generational wounds
* A Christian Call to Peace Making and Reconciliation - 21st September, 2024
* Social Artrepreneurship on the 28th September, 2024.
Time for each session is 9:00 am and venue, is the Center for Peace and Reconciliation (Meaglent Hotel), at Adenta pantang junction. The rate per seminar is Ghc150.00 for professionals and Ghc100 for students
The program was indeed uplifting, encouraging and refreshing, to all who attended.
