*IT'S TIME FOR GROWTH*

*SCRIPTURE READING:* Isaiah 60

> _A little one shall become a thousand, And a small one a strong nation. I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time._ *Isaiah 60:22*

When we commit ourselves to grow, God transforms us from the little weak people we are into mighty giants who do big things for Him.

Have you ever had this experience? After so many years, you meet a friend from your past — maybe your childhood or teenage years. This is someone who used to bully you and make you feel small and weak. Now, you meet him or her and you wonder whether it's the same person. When you were younger, they seemed big and intimidating but now they appear rather small and frail.

You ask yourself: 'Is it the same person? What happened?' Well, you grew! In your mind, you assumed that no matter how much you grew, they would be bigger than you. Then you realize after meeting him or her that you actually grew bigger. You smile at them and wonder what it was that made you afraid in the first place. We go through that exact experience in both our spiritual and mental lives.

Today, when you look around you, there are so many difficulties that perplex you and make you feel insignificant. When you look at them, they seem so big and impossible to solve. In your mind they seem like problems which will always be with you.

However, as you consistently apply yourself to spiritual growth, in the word of God, something dramatic is taking place that you do not see. You are growing stronger and bigger by the day. Although you may not see it, you are growing spiritually — in your mind, thoughts and understanding.

One day, you will confront the same problems that scared you today, and they will appear small and insignificant. Those issues that you thought you would never be able to overcome will bow before you because of your new-found strength and authority in Christ. So, grow, brother grow. Grow, sister grow.

Let us grow until the little one becomes a thousand, and a small one becomes a mighty nation.

*PRAYER*

_Heavenly Father, you are my strength. Raise me up above every limitation facing me today. In Jesus' name, Amen._

*LOOK TO GOD*

*SCRIPTURE READING:* Mark 10:46-52

> _Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, 'Son of David, have mercy on me!'_ *Mark 10:48*

The devil will always have someone available to tell us why we shouldn't expect to get results when petitioning God. Most people would rather stay with the crowd and not do anything to draw attention to themselves, even if that means not getting their needs met. They will try to make you conform as well. If this man had listened to the crowd, he would not have received his healing.

This blind man is a good example of an active kind of faith. He was not passive in his approach toward healing. He boldly cried out to Jesus for mercy. When the crowd ridiculed him and told him to be quiet, he cried out even louder for mercy.

Many people believe that God can perform the miracle they need but relatively few are willing to actively pursue it until they get results. They are afraid of what others will think of them. This man had his attention focused only on Jesus. Nothing else mattered and that is why he got healed.

An integral part of faith is seeking God only with your whole heart. If we are concerned about what people think in order to gain their approval, we will never take a stand in faith for anything that we might be criticised for. This is one thing that has stopped so many people from receiving from God. You cannot be a 'man-pleaser' and please God at the same time. Satan uses persecution to steal away God's Word and thereby stop our faith.

Don't rest until you become all God wants you to be.

*PRAYER:* _Heavenly Father, help me to look to you alone and seek you with all my heart. In Jesus' name, Amen._

*DON'T GET TIRED*

*SCRIPTURE READING:* Galatians 6:1-10

> _And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart._ *Galatians 6:9*

Whatever we sow, we reap in due season. Have you had people do something bad and wished they will reap instant judgment? Did you get disappointed that God did not judge them instantly?

*• Due season.* What is the due season? This concept clarifies the principle of sowing and reaping. So when we sow a seed, we don't just reap at any time. We reap in due season. In the same way, when we sow a seed — prayer, good deed or financial — we reap in due season.

The due season is the season when things happen. For example, when I sow corn at the beginning of the planting season, I will reap at the harvest season — from June to August. No matter how urgent my need is, the corn will be harvested at the appointed season for corn.

Similarly, God has appointed seasons for things to happen. A child can pray by faith for a car now, but he needs to reach a season of maturity for God to give him the car. There are offerings that people give today but they need to be in another season for them to receive their reward from the Lord.

*• The fullness of time.* The due season has its fullness of time. Though harvesting takes place at an appointed season, each plant matures slightly differently from others. The season may be right, but each one may have a slightly different fullness of time.

For example, pregnancy takes nine months to birth. However, two women who became pregnant on the same day may go through a full-term pregnancy and deliver on different days. My fullness of time may be slightly different from your fullness of time.

Just trust the Lord that in due season, at the fullness of time, He will reward you and show you His goodness.

*PRAYER*

_Heavenly Father, I thank you that in due season and in the fullness of time, I will receive your promises. In Jesus' name, Amen._

*HONOUR GOD'S PRINCIPLES*

*SCRIPTURE READING:* Acts 10:30-48

> _But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him._ *Acts 10:35*

God is no respecter of race or nation. His blessings reach beyond racial lines and national boundaries. He is not limited by how a person looks or where they live.

As long as you stay in the will of God for your life, you will find the fullness of life that God wants you to enjoy.

The fact that God is no respecter of persons does not mean that all of us will do the same thing. Life is not the same for everybody though God is the same for everybody. He does not call all of us to do the same thing. His gifts and callings are diverse.

Being diverse or different should not be seen as better or worse. They should only be seen as they are — diverse and different. Some people live in more prosperous nations while others live in more impoverished nations. God takes care of His children who live in prosperous nations as well as His children who live in impoverished nations.

The Lord does not relate to us on the basis of race or nationality but on these two bases.

*• We must fear the Lord.* That means we must honour His laws and principles. God honours those who honour His principles, no matter who they are or where they live. When we honour God's principle of sowing and reaping, we will enjoy the benefits of that principle, no matter who we are or where we live.

*• We must work righteously.* That means to do what is right. Right work produces right results; wrong work produces wrong results. If we work diligently, we will be rewarded, no matter who we are. If we work haphazardly, we will be failures; no matter who we are or where we live.

*PRAYER*

_Heavenly Father, help me to honour your principles and do the right thing at all times and in every place. In Jesus' name, Amen._

*LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT*

*SCRIPTURE READING:* Hebrews 12:1-17

> _Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.:_ *Hebrews 12:1*

This exhortation comes from the early Roman races. As happens today, the races took place in large arenas with cheering spectators in the stands.

The passage tells us to run the Christian race in a similar way to how athletes run their race.

*• We're surrounded by witnesses.* Just as athletes run before spectators, we also run our Christian lives in the presence of witnesses. These witnesses are the heroes of the Christian faith, in glory, who ran the race we are running when they were on earth. Their testimony of faith and endurance must encourage us to run our race.

*• Lay aside every weight.* Excess weight is the chief enemy of every athlete in a race. To prepare for a race, athletes must shed all unwanted body fat and wear clothes that do not impede their movement. Similarly, the Lord does not want us to run the Christian life with so many things weighing us down.

What are the things weighing you down in life? Are there sins, bad habits, wrong thoughts or unprofitable associations that weigh you down? Are you bitter, unforgiving, and vengeful? Let's put aside all weights that hinder our life of faith.

*• Run with endurance.* The Christian life is not a short-distance race. It is a long-distance race that requires a lot of endurance. When you do a short distance, you need explosive speed but in a long distance, explosive speed is not an asset except at the finish line. Endurance is about stamina and staying power.

*PRAYER*

_Heavenly Father, help me to lay aside every weight that hinders my progress. In Jesus' name, Amen!_

*DECLARE WHAT YOU BELIEVE*

*SCRIPTURE READING:* 2 Corinthians 4

> _And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, 'I believed and therefore I spoke,' we also believe and therefore speak._ *2 Corinthians 4:13*

Our walk with God is a walk of faith. This passage teaches us some important truths about faith.

*• Faith is a spirit.* That means it is a spiritual reality. We do not get faith from a physical source. We get it from a spiritual source — the word of God and the Spirit of God. If you're looking to physical evidence to give you faith, you will not find it. Faith is spiritual.

*• Faith manifests in the physical.* That means faith takes things from the spiritual realm and brings them to the physical realm. In His life and ministry, the Lord Jesus used faith to do physical things like healing the sick, calming storms and multiplying loaves and fishes. He has given us the power to also use our faith to change physical conditions.

*• Faith believes.* Faith does not doubt God. Faith does not doubt God's word. When we operate in faith, we take God's word as it is. If He says He's forgiven our sins, we believe that without question. So do we believe when He says that the Holy Spirit lives in us.

*• Faith speaks.* When we speak out what we believe, we release faith out of our hearts. The words of our mouths reflect the meditations of our hearts. When our hearts are full of faith, our words will be full of faith.

The Lord Jesus did most of His miracles by speaking. He spoke words of faith to change physical conditions. He wants us to also do the same. He wants us to use our faith-filled words to change the physical conditions around us.

*PRAYER*

_Heavenly Father, by faith, I speak change, blessing, increase and abundance into my life. In Jesus' name, Amen._

*FROM FAITH TO FAITH*

*SCRIPTURE READING:* Romans 1:1-17

> _For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, 'The just shall live by faith.'_ *Romans 1:17*

The Christian life is a life of faith. We live the Christian life the same way that we enter the Christian life. How did we enter the Christian life?

We entered the Christian life by surrendering our life to Christ. We started by believing that Jesus is the Son of God. We believed that when He died on the cross, we died with Him; and when He rose from the dead, we were raised with Him. On that basis, we opened our heart to the Lord Jesus, and trusted Him to save us from our sins and give us His life. All of this process took place by faith.

Having begun the Christian life by faith, we continue to live our Christian life in the same way — by faith. Faith brings us in, and faith continues to keep us. We are saved by faith, and we live by faith.
The key to the Christian life is faith — believing that God is who He is and will do what He says He will do. Our faith rests in who God is. The Lord is unchangeable in nature so His word is unchangeable.

Whatever God is, His word is. He is good so His word is good. He is able, so His word is able. He can do all things, so His word can do all things. He is a healer, so His word is a healer. He has all power, so His word has all power. Our faith is activated when we take the written word of God as God speaking to us now.

Our faith is in the Lord and not in ourselves. It is very easy to place our faith in other things outside of God and His word. Sometimes we place our faith in our church or in a servant of God. Other times, we place our faith in powerful people or in ourselves. When we trust others instead of God, He is not under any obligation to do anything for us.

The same Lord who saves us from sin by faith, is also able to keep us from sin by faith. He saves and preserves. The same Lord who begins with us by faith, is also able to carry us through by faith and give us the grace to finish what He began in us by faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please God.

*PRAYER*

_Heavenly Father, I choose to live by faith. With my whole heart, I believe in you; I believe in your word. In Jesus' name, Amen._

*DELIVER YOUR PEOPLE*

*SCRIPTURE READING:* Psalm 40

> _Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let such as love Your salvation say continually, 'The Lord be magnified!'_ *Psalm 40:16*

In the midst of his plea, David expressed his desire for all God's people to experience the Lord. He was not so burdened with his own problems that he forgot what others were going through.

David prayed that God would reward all who sincerely sought Him with an abundance of joy and gladness. That should be our prayer as well.

*• Lord, bless those who seek you.* Every day, God's children face all kinds of perplexing situations. Some are persecuted because of their faith, others suffer the pain and stresses of life.

As Christians, we must carry one another's burden. We must pray for one another. That is what David did. He prayed for God to bless all those who sought the Lord.

*• Lord, deliver those who love you.* David himself had been delivered from the miry clay. He was a man who loved the Lord deeply. As such, David wanted the Lord to deliver all those who loved Him. That should be our prayer. When we see people who truly love God going through suffering, we must reach out in prayer for them. May the Lord deliver all those who love Him.

*• Lord, magnify yourself in the life of your children.* God is magnified in the deliverance of His children. The Lord does great and mighty things that can only be attributed to Him. When He does so, we see Him bigger and greater in our lives.

David wanted the Lord to be magnified and His people to be blessed as they served Him.

*PRAYER*

_Heavenly Father, bless all those who love and seek you. Deliver your people and give them a new song. In Jesus' name, Amen._

*GOD'S WONDERFUL WORKS*

*SCRIPTURE READING:* Psalm 40

> _Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works Which You have done; And Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered._ *Psalm 40:5*

When we look back on our lives we cannot begin to list all the great things God has done for us. His works prove that He loves and cares for us. Like us, Israel's history was filled with God's wonderful works and wonders. The Lord had performed extraordinary deeds for them throughout their history.

As David sang his new song of God's deliverance, he remembered God's miraculous deeds for His chosen people in the past and in the present.

*• The Lord thinks of us.* This is where all things begin. They begin with the thoughts that the Lord thinks towards us. He thinks good thoughts towards us. It is because the Lord has favourable considerations of us that He inclines to us when we call on Him. Though we may have to sometimes wait patiently for the Lord to do something for us, we must always rest assured that He thinks well of us, His children.

*• The Lord does wonderful things for us.* The Lord does not stop at having good thoughts about us. He follows up with doing good things for us. What He does for us is always wonderful. Something is wonderful when it fills you with wonder and admiration. When the Lord comes through for us, His works fill us with wonder. We wonder how He got us through a bad situation; or how He turned an impossible situation around. Then we come to one conclusion — that only God could have done that.

*• The Lord's works cannot be numbered.* God's wonderful deeds are not rare. They are abundant. From the moment of our conception to our birth, throughout our lives, we see God's fingerprints on us. He has marked our existence with His acts.

May we never be in want of seeing and telling of all that the Lord has done for us.

*PRAYER*

_Heavenly Father, you have marked my life with your wonderful works. With you, every moment is a miracle. In Jesus' name, Amen._
