FIRM COMMITMENT

For we have become PARTAKERS of Christ if we keep the beginning of our commitment firm until the end,

There is no need to be a mere taster when you can become a partaker!

Take care, brethren, lest there should be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart, in falling away from the living God.

Perhaps, the most important thing is for you to become a partaker of Christ. You must not only taste of the Lord to see that He is good. You must partake of Christ. To partake of Christ is to become deeply embedded and rooted in Him. You must go deeper, and you must go all out in God.

Those who have partaken of salvation but have gone no deeper have made the greatest mistake of their lives. When I was a teenager in secondary school, many people claimed to be Christians. However, many did not take God seriously. They only tasted of the salvation, but they did not partake of Christ. They did not go deeper into Christ as they should have. You must press on to the mark of the high calling of God. You must go deeper in Christ.

You cannot taste a bit and stop there. There is much more in Christ. It is because I pressed deeper into Christ that I became a pastor and a teacher of the Word. The sign that you have pressed on to be a partaker of Christ is that you have become a preacher and a teacher of the Word of God. Indeed, there is a time that you must become a teacher of the Word.

For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

GOD HAS FEELINGS
14th February, 2025

READ: Matthew 14:13-21

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Colossians 3:12

God expects His servants to be filled with compassion. “Should you not have had compassion?” are the words of the Master. It is important for you to develop compassion in your heart. Hardness, wickedness and strictness are not helpful when you are trying to care for lost sheep. You will end up killing most of the sheep before they grow to their full age. Your impatience and severity will only kill off the weak ones. I can assure you, most of the people are weak.

God is expecting us to have His heart so that we can gently work with the weak people and show them His compassion.

Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellow servant, even as I had pity on thee?

Matthew 18:33

Compassion is a manifestation of the shepherd’s anointing. Every anointed shepherd is filled with compassion for the sheep he is called to. Become an anointed shepherd today. Jesus has billions of followers because of His great compassion. He is the Good Shepherd. He is the great example for all pastors. He is full of compassion, full of mercy, full of love: Mark 6:34.

Compassion is a manifestation of God’s powerful feelings. Our Heavenly Father’s feeling towards the lost human race is simply compassion and pity. We are completely lost and helplessly drowned in sin. We have very little ability to do what is right.

Our Heavenly Father is always looking out of the window with pity and compassion (Luke 15:20). He watches us as we strive to come nearer to Him. All true shepherds must be filled with the same kind of compassion that the Father has towards His children. You must develop the Father’s heart filled with compassion and you will soon be experiencing great miracles in your ministry.

REAL TRIUMPH

12th February, 2025

READ: 1 Corinthians 2: 1-16

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God

1 Corinthians 12: 12

Asking questions stirs up the power of God. Jesus asked the demon an important question. And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many (Mark 5:9). Your failure to ask about certain details reveals your lack of interest and apathy about the ministry. Jesus got to know the name and number of His enemies that were present. There are things you must ask many questions about. Know your enemy and in a hundred battles you will never be defeated!

Stirring by wisdom: The wisdom of God stirs up the anointing. Jesus allowed the demons to go into the pigs. Some people may consider that a compromise. Through this action of Jesus, somebody’s pig farm of two thousand pigs was destroyed.

Did Jesus allow evil to prevail? Certainly not! Did Jesus allow the devils to do whatever they wanted? Certainly not! Jesus gained the upper hand over the devils by letting them enter the pigs. It seemed as though evil prevailed but ultimately the man was set free. The goal was to set the man free from evil powers.

When Jesus went to the cross, it may seem as though murderers, liars, thieves and wicked men had triumphed over good. It seemed as though treachery, deception and evil had prevailed and had its way. But that was the wisdom of God in action.

Through the cross (the apparent defeat of Jesus and His ministry), salvation came to the whole world. You and I are saved through the blood of Jesus. Today, millions of people are saved from the clutches of devils. This has happened just because Jesus seemed to allow devils to triumph over Him, only to destroy their strong grip over the human race.

SELF-RIGHTEOUS?

READ: Ecclesiastes 7: 15–20

For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and GOING ABOUT TO ESTABLISH THEIR OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

Romans 10:3

Self-righteous people are often fruitless. Self-righteous people are full of idealism. They know what is right and they know what is wrong. But they are not fruitful. There was a time that listening to the radio was considered a sin by self-righteous people. There was a time that watching television was considered a sin by self-righteous people. There was a time that taking medicine was considered a sin by self-righteous people. There was a time that wearing trousers was thought to be a sin. All these rules were made at different times for different reasons.

Unfortunately, the numerous rules that spiritually blind people have, gives them a false sense of confidence. Paul said, they go about to establish their own righteousness and have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God (Romans 10:3). Almost every Christian has a set of things that minister to him a sense of righteousness. When we do these things we feel righteous and we feel holy.

Spiritually blind people have a set of things that they do not do, that give them even more confidence in their false righteousness. They say things like, “I have never committed this sin before. I have never smoked, I have never drunk alcohol, I have never committed adultery, I have never failed to pay my tithes, I have never taken drugs.”

They do not realise that they have not done these things because of God’s mercy and grace. Beware of developing confidence in a list of things you have done or have not done. It will only lead to your spiritual blindness and barrenness

ONLY BY PRIDE…

READ: Proverbs 16: 16–19

Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

Proverbs 13:10

A novice can fall into pride easily, and this pride is shown by contention and quarrelling. One day two young pastors were involved in a conflict. These pastors were working together in the same church. Somehow, there was always some contention. When matters got to a head, I said to the junior of the two, “You must stop having this contention and strife in the church.” I pointed out to him that he was proud because he was a novice. He was a new recruit. He had recently been promoted. He was new in the job.

Initially, he did not think he was proud. Neither did he think that he was the source of the contention. Then I pointed out Proverbs 13:10 to him. Only by pride comes contention! There is no way that there would be contention unless there was pride. As soon as he saw the scripture, he capitulated. He sat back and thought through my presentation.

I am glad to say that he “withdrew his horses” and the conflict in the church came to an abrupt end. The spirit of pride manifests as contention and quarrelling. If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living a peaceful life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.

One of the most important verses you must remember is: “Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom” (Proverbs 13:10).

Mature out of conflicts! Have no contention! Have no one in your life with whom you have a quarrel. Live peaceably with all men. That is wisdom and that is humility. You must only have conflict with people who, like Adolf Hi**er, bring the war to your doorstep, making it unavoidable for you to fight back and defend yourself.
