In Loving Memory of Sister Lena Manson
βThe joy that usually accompanies the approach of a weekend has eluded us this time. That familiar surge of energy, the zeal with which we gather as chorister feels distant and dimmed.
βOne might look at us and wonder: Have we suddenly become a different people? Have our hymns changed? Or the colors of our robes faded?
βThe answer is a heavy NO. The change is not in what we wear or what we sing, but in the space where a beloved voice once resided. Our spirits are dampened because we gather now for the final rites of our sister, Lena Manson
βShe was, once upon a time, an indomitable and quintessential alto of the ADC. She graced countless stages and stood tall through the competitions that defined us, including those phenomenal back-to-back victories our diocesan choir and the diocese at large still carries with immense pride.
Today, she has transitioned from our earthly ranks to join the triumphant host, the celestial choir above. Though time has marched on, we still find ourselves struggling to come to terms with this silence.
βAs we gather this Saturday at the Resurrection Methodist Church, Adenta, we bid farewell to one we dearly love, one who has been called to a higher service. We lean heavily on Godβs great strength, drawing inspiration from the dedication of the one for whom we weep.
Sister Afia, God be with you until we meet again.
βFellow choristers, let us brace ourselves. Though our hearts are heavy, let us keep trudging toward the mark of our higher calling, carrying her memory in every note we sing.
