The apostle Paul was intent on obeying the Lord. If the instruction was hunger, he was prepared for it; if the instruction was fullness, he would obey!

The consequence of obeying or disobeying one little instruction can be so great that no sacrifice could ever compensate for the act of disobedience.

Think about Jesus, who by one act of obedience has rescued millions from the throes of Hell. There is nothing like obedience in the eyes of God. To obey is better than to sacrifice. This is the most important truth you must learn about obedience.

I remember the story of an army lieutenant who received orders to fire his artillery at the enemy . As his soldiers prepared to fire, the radio operator had a message from the general asking the lieutenant to hold his fire. Something had changed: the enemy position had now been occupied by his own troops. The lieutenant was so zealous to fight that he did not listen to the radio operator, but rather opened fire and pounded his own soldiers.

God is like the army general, who sees the whole picture. He knows when to fire and when not to fire; He knows when to sacrifice and when not to. I have learnt that to obey is better than to sacrifice. God has sometimes asked us not to do things that we habitually do. Could it be that there will be times that it is more important not to preach, than it is to preach because that is what God says?

NOBODIES



READ: Matthew 18:1-6

1 Peter 5:5



Jesus told us who the greatest in the Kingdom is. He called a child and said, "This is the greatest in the Kingdom of God."

If you become as humble as a child, you will be the greatest in the Kingdom. That is why the Son of God went to John the Baptist's ministry to be baptized like everyone else. He did not ask to be treated specially.

If you choose to humble yourself, God will exalt you but if you choose to exalt yourself, then He will bring you down. You have to choose.

When the Lord called me into the Ministry , my father said to me, "I cannot stand the fact that my son will live from the offerings of people. It is below you."

However, the Lord told me to enter into ministry and to humble myself. I also struggled with this because I reasoned with God, that I was a doctor. I argued that I did not need the coins and little contributions of people to take care of myself. The Lord said to me, "You are nothing, you are nobody."

That is true. We are what we are by the grace of God. Jesus became anointed because He humbled Himself. Stop trying to be some unique person. Just become nothing. When you humble yourself, God will pour His grace on you.

If we do not humble ourselves, we cannot learn and receive from the people that God sends to us. We will just look on and analyze them. Many of us are outside the grace of God because we cannot receive from the people that God has placed in our lives.

READ: Proverbs 6:6-11

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Galatians 6:7

If you want financial prosperity , you must obey the Word of God, which tells us to work hard.

Galatians 6:7 teaches us that we reap whatever we sow. Whatever you put in, you will reap either thirtyfold, sixtyfold, or a hundredfold.

In Proverbs 6:6-11, we read that ants are prosperous. They mind their own business and work without supervision. If you really want the financial prosperity that you are confessing, then you must decide to work without supervision, just like the ant. Do you want to experience a financial breakthrough? It is not enough just to confess great things. You must obey the Word of God. You can have what you say , but you must act on the Word. Faith without works is dead faith.

What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? Can faith save him?

James 2:14

In the account of the last judgement, the sheep are moved to the right and the goats to the left. It is a similar thing with your faith. The real ones are separated from the fake ones by the acts of faith that accompany them. When a confession has no confirming actions, it is actually a dead and useless claim. If you make a claim to prosperity , you must courageously go to work. You must work very hard.

IN-LAWS

READ: Ruth 1:1-22

…It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband…

Ruth 2:11

The Bible admonishes a spouse to honour his/her parents or parent figures and you must do the same (Ephesians 6:3).

Your in-laws are like adopted parents to you. You must try to love them unconditionally as we are admonished to do in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, even when you think they don't like you.

Do not complain about your spouse to your parents. Do not allow your parents to develop a habit of saying bad things about your spouse to you directly or indirectly. You are one. Let love cover the multitude of your partner's faults and seek pastoral counsel when you need help (Proverbs 10:12).

Know that your in-laws can do unacceptable things just like your parents. The difference is that you may not be able to tell your in-law your real sentiments without stirring up trouble; so learn to overlook certain things. Be yourself with your inlaws as far as you are not offensive.

Try not to discriminate between parents as to upkeep. Recognize the reality that not all sets of parents have the same needs, so do not try to make their needs identical. For example, one parent may need remittances but the other may need to be given gifts on birthdays and other special occasions. Usually, the woman may prompt the husband on care for the home. He should provide these needs with love (1 Timothy 5:8).

Your in-laws can pronounce a blessing on you depending on how you treat them. Ruth received an additional blessing.

NAMES

READ: John 10:1-16

…and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

John 10:3

People will follow someone who knows their names! It is very important that a leader knows the names of the people he works with. No one is a number or an object. If you want to lead people, try to remember their names and call them by name.

King David was a great leader. One of the reasons he was loved is because he was near enough to the people he led (1 Samuel 18:16). You ought to make an effort to know the names of people for these reasons:

1. Every successful leader knows the names of many people

2. People feel special when you know their names. Everyone gravitates towards where he feels special. People do not feel disregarded or despised when you call them by name.

3. When you know the names of people, they feel that you are friendly and human. People are attracted to someone who is friendly and warm.

4. Knowing people by their names connects you to them in a personal way; this creates the bond of leader and follower.

5. Knowing the names of people makes you closer to them.

I sometimes wonder at pastors who may have only sixty members and cannot remember all their names. If you cannot remember people's names, they will not like to follow you. People are less inclined to follow a distant figurehead. When you know somebody's name, he feels you are real and he feels that you are near enough.

SINGLE EYE

READ: Matthew 6:22-24

No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other...

Luke 16:13

In this Scripture, Jesus teaches about how the entire body is affected by the eye. He says that if you have a single eye, your whole body will be full of light (a good thing). It goes on to say that if your eye is evil, your body will be full of darkness. What does a single eye mean? A single eye speaks of seeing one thing! In other words, in every sphere of life your attention should be focused on only one thing. Loyalty has a single eye.

Jesus went on to explain that you cannot serve God and mammon. In other words, if you see both God and mammon as "gods" in your life, you will not prosper. You must be loyal to one or the other. Jesus taught us that you would end up loving one and hating the other. Another example concerns your church. If you want to be loyal to your church, you must be focused on one church and not on two. A husband cannot be loyal to his wife if he has his eye on another woman. Any man, whose eyes are focused on two different women, has a potential for disloyalty.

If you belong to a church, your allegiance must be to the pastor in charge, the senior pastor. Everyone else is assisting the senior pastor to do the work. If you work in a company, your allegiance is to the highest authority. If something is going wrong in your department, because you have a single eye, you will show your loyalty to your ultimate employer. Do not forget this important principle, "loyalty has a single eye".

HEALTH & PROSPERITY

READ: Luke 4:16-27

Beloved, I wish above all things that you thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

3 John 2

The healing anointing is associated with prosperity . Healing is usually accompanied by prosperity. God heals you and then He gives you something extra: that which helps you to prosper in this life.

Remember when Jesus spoke of the anointing, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me..." He declared that He was anointed to preach the Gospel to the poor. Then in the next sentence, He spoke of healing the broken-hearted. With the introduction of Jesus' ministry , prosperity and healing are linked together.

When the healing anointing is flowing, prosperity abounds. These two miracles move together. Why did God heal you and extend your life? To bless you with more years of abundance over here.

In Jesus' famous hometown sermon, He spoke about both healing and prosperity . He spoke of the healing of Naaman the Syrian. In the same breath, He spoke of the financial miracle of the widow of Zarephath. These two blessings seem to be linked in the spirit. John the Apostle also linked these two blessings. He declared that his greatest wish was for his spiritual children to have both prosperity and healing.

If God has given you healing, He's giving you prosperity as well. It's real. People will wonder at your blessing and you will speak about Jehovah Rophe: His kindness and His goodness that has prospered you. There is healing on the left and prosperity on the right. Don't take these things lightly; they will happen practically in your life.

HATE EVIL!

READ: 1 Samuel 20:1-23

Woe unto them that call evil good…

Isaiah 5:20

People usually become attracted to something before they go for it. In the same way, if you approve of somebody who is doing the wrong thing, then you are likely to want to do the same thing yourself.

God expects the Christian to disapprove of evil. Although Saul was Jonathan's father, Jonathan acknowledged that the King, his father, was wrong in trying to kill David. David had done no wrong, but out of jealousy, Saul attempted to kill him.

Jonathan disassociated himself from what his father was doing and associated himself with the right, which was David. That is what a real Christian must do. You must not approve of what is wrong. You must be bold and say, "This is wrong, and that is right! And I stand for what is right."

From experience, I have noticed that if you praise evil, one day you will also commit the same evil. You become what you admire. If someone is a rebel and you approve of the person, one day you may also be a rebel. I watch for people who do not condemn the evil going on around them. The Christian should never approve of evil.

…Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good …

Malachi 2:17

Watch out for Christians who do not disapprove of evil; they are probably thinking of doing the same thing one day.

PROXIMITY

READ: 2 Kings 2:11-22

And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me.

Ezekiel 2:2

Look at this amazing Scripture in Ezekiel! The anointing enters you as you listen to the Word of God. The Word is able to impart an anointing into your life. The prophet said he could feel the anointing enter him as the Lord spoke to him.

The Bible also records that Elisha soaked in the words of his spiritual father, Elijah. Just like Jesus and the disciples, Elisha and Elijah engaged in lots of important conversation. Elisha walked so closely to Elijah that God had to separate them Himself. Do not allow anyone or circumstances, to separate you from your spiritual father. Not many people will have the privilege of interacting personally with their mentors. So how can anyone catch the anointing on a great man of God? Is it the pouring of water or the doing of menial jobs that leads to a transfer of anointing? The answer is no! The physical interaction exposes you to his words. Follow a man of God by following his words closely.

Jesus told His disciples, that His words are Spirit (anointing) and life (John 6:63). The anointing is in the words. They took his words seriously because he had told them that the anointing was in the words. Thank God that today the words of anointed ministers are available in books, tapes and videos.

Following some men of God through DVDs, CDs and books has greatly blessed my life and ministry. The fact that you are reading this book is evidence that an anointing I received some years ago is real.
