Text: John 9:25 — “Some time ago I was blind, but now I can see.”
INTRODUCTION
Life can often feel like a journey in the dark — confusion, pain, sin, and bitterness. But then, Jesus passes our way. The question still stands today: “How were your eyes opened?”
Like the man in John 9, many of us can boldly say: “Some time ago I was blind, but now I can see.”
1. THE CONDITION: “He was blind from birth” (John 9:1)
Some of us were born into spiritual blindness: no direction, no vision, no hope. But Jesus said, “This happened so that the works of God might be displayed.” Your suffering is sometimes a stage for God’s glory.
2. THE ENCOUNTER: “Jesus saw him” (John 9:1)
The man didn’t call Jesus. Jesus found him. Before you sought Him, He sought you.
3. THE MIRACLE: “Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam” (John 9:7)
Jesus used an unexpected method. God’s ways are not always logical, but obedience opens eyes. Sometimes, your "yes" is all that God needs to work a miracle.
4. THE TESTIMONY: “I am the man” (John 9:9)
When God changes your life, some will doubt you, but like the man, stand firm and declare: “I am the one God saved.” Your testimony threatens darkness.
5. THE OPPOSITION: “This man is not from God” (John 9:16)
Expect resistance when God opens your eyes. Some people prefer you to remain blind. But even under pressure, speak boldly of the change Jesus has made.
6. THE BOLD WITNESS: “One thing I know: I was blind, but now I see” (John 9:25)
You may not know all the theology, but your story is enough: “Jesus changed my life.” Your testimony is your weapon.
7. THE REJECTION: “They threw him out.” (John 9:34)
Sometimes, as you walk in God’s blessing, people will leave. Don’t cry over those who can’t go with you.
The Lord was with Joseph — and he prospered.
The Lord was with David — and he overcame.
The Lord was with Solomon — and he became great.
The Lord is with you — and you will succeed.
8. THE REVELATION: “Jesus found him” (John 9:35)
After rejection, Jesus found him again. When others desert you, Jesus draws near. You must not only receive healing but revelation. It’s not enough to see miracles; you must know the Miracle Worker.
CONCLUSION: HOW WERE YOUR EYES OPENED?
Church, how were your eyes opened?
Some time ago, you were walking in darkness, confusion, sin, and fear. But then Jesus passed your way, and now you can boldly say: “Some time ago I was blind, but now I can see.”
May the Lord open the eyes of your understanding, your destiny, and your future.
May every spiritual blindness disappear.
May light enter every dark area of your life. You will tell your story as your life improves. Be blessed as the Lord Jesus has located you. You will never lack.
Amen.
