The District Pastor, Ps. Augustus Akonu, climaxed the 2025 Christmas Convention, delivering a powerful sermon on the theme: THE VIRGIN WILL CONCEIVE AND GIVE BIRTH TO A SON, AND WILL CALL HIM IMMANUEL.

Emphasising the theme of what it means by THE VIRGIN SHALL CONCEIVE, the Virgin's conception and birth of a Son, Immanuel, is a potent reminder of God's divine intervention in human affairs. The scripture reading from Isaiah 7:14 underscores the miraculous, unprecedented event, symbolising the power of divine intervention where the impossible becomes achievable, and the extraordinary unfolds in unexpected ways. To the congregation, Pastor explained that the Virgin's conception signifies a breakthrough beyond conventional expectations, highlighting the importance of faith and trust in God's omnipotence.

The District Pastor noted that as Christians, "You can't be lazy and expect a miracle." Miracles don't materialise out of idleness; diligence and perseverance are essential to unlock divine blessings. Cultivating a strong work ethic and remaining steadfast in our endeavours are crucial, trusting that God will reward our efforts and faithfulness.

Moreover, the District Pastor helped the congregation understand that birth embodies the pain we often forget, a journey that unfolds over time, teaching us patience and resilience. From the moment life begins to the moment it's born, we learn to endure and cherish the process. As he stated, "Birth means forgotten pain, as pregnancy to delivery requires time and patience."

Again, the Virgin shall give birth to a Son, symbolising the unwavering certainty and lucidity of God's divine promises. This proclamation underscores the precision, assurance, and intentional purpose inherent in God's covenant with us, illuminating the path forward with unmistakable clarity.

No matter the circumstances, God holds the power to rewrite our narrative and transform our lives. Through faith and trust in His omnipotence, even the seemingly impossible becomes achievable, as divine intervention can reshape our destiny. The name Immanuel, as a name given to the Messiah, the Saviour, reminds us that God's presence is always with us, regardless of our circumstances. We can find comfort in knowing that God is by our side, working for our good, and transforming our experiences into a testament of hope and blessing for others.

In conclusion, the District Pastor quoted a maxim, "The Gap is huge until you complete the full cycle," meaning as Christians, we ought to know that the distance between promise and fulfilment is closed only when we see things through to the end, not giving up halfway, and it will surely end well with us because of the name IMMANUEL!

We left not just celebrating Christmas but carrying a living Christ within, ready to birth miracles, promises, and new beginnings.

The service concluded with a powerful move of prayer, deliverance, and prophetic declarations, embracing the truth that with God, a new birth of purpose is indeed possible.

To God be all the glory!
