- Aḥmad b. Muhammad al-Tijānī

His disciple Muḥammad al-Ṭayyib al-Sufyānī (d.1259/1843-1844), who transmitted this statement in "al-Ifāda al-aḥmadiyya, a collection of al-Tijānī’s aphorisms", carries on with the quotation:

"This flood will come at a time when people are subjected to extreme ordeals and hardship."
