The Word Sustains Us When We Are Scattered
In Acts 8:4, the believers didn't just run away; they went everywhere preaching the word.
The Root: You cannot preach what you do not know. The Power: Because they knew the truth, the scattering became a sowing of gospel seeds. When Philip surrendered to the Holy Spirit and preached Christ, signs and wonders followed because his message was grounded in the true Messiah.
The Word Align Our Prayers for Divine Sending
(Acts 13:1-3)In Acts 13, the prophets and teachers at Antioch were fasting, praying, and ministering to the Lord. The Blueprint: Knowing God's Word teaches us how to pray in alignment with His will.
The Result: Because they were deeply rooted in truth and corporate prayer, they clearly recognized the voice of the Holy Spirit saying, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." A church equipped by the Word knows how to send out missionaries rather than waiting to be forcefully scattered.
The Word Delivers Us from Deception (2 Peter 2:9)
The Apostle Peter reminds us that "the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials."The Shield: 2 Peter 2 deals heavily with warning the church against false prophets and deceptive teachers.
The Application: To be Godly and stay rescued from the traps of false teaching, we must possess a sharp, intimate knowledge of God's Word. It acts as our spiritual compass so we can test every spirit, just as the early church had to discern true miracles from the sorcery of Simon in Samaria (Acts 8:9-11).
