It was great to welcome back Ben to our awards evening. If your son might be interested in joining our company, please do get in touch. We are looking for new members.

Monday 20th May 2024, Yate Town Mayor, Councillor Ben Nutland, had the honour of being invited to 1st Yate Boys Brigade Annual display and awards night.

The evening was filled with the Boys Brigade members showcasing the activities they have undertaken since September 2023 to family and friends.

Activities ranged from watching the Anchor section playing a listening game, Juniors section playing team games and the Seniors section treating us to a quiz.

The Boys Brigade Marching Band filled Yate Methodist Church with an amazing musical performance, treating everyone to a new song.

Mayor, Councillor Ben Nutland, said, “Returning to 1st Yate Boys Brigade tonight has brought back memories of my time within the unit itself. It was a pleasure to watch the activities and listening to the band made me think about picking up my drum sticks again. It’s great to see the unit is still an active part of the Yate community. The leaders of the Brigade were members of it at the same time as me, showing their dedication to the group.”

If anyone is around tomorrow or Saturday it is the Christmas Tree festival at Yate Methodist Church, which we have a tree at. Everyone is welcome. There's food and refreshments available, lots of trees to see, stalls and a raffle on the Saturday, and did I mention there's food available! Pop on down if you have the time.

Yes, it's this coming weekend!
Come along and enjoy the atmosphere on Friday evening, the bacon butties on Saturday morning (and snap up some bargains!) and worship among the trees on Sunday.

A big thankyou to everyone who came out to pay their respects at the Remembrance Parades on Sunday. We are always honoured to be involved and asked to lead the parades with our Band and this year all three of our sections paraded. Thank you to all that came out to support us.

Another thanks to everyone who voted on our AI Art. I can confirm that the remembrance themed image (number 7) took first place, beating out the other poppy field by just one vote.

The cute cat eating a pineapple managed an admirable third place! All the images are available to view in our Facebook album.

Our Junior section made a poppy display which we'd like to share with you all in time for remembrance on Sunday. Our thoughts and prayers are with those that have fought, lost and suffered in conflicts both past and present.

On Monday our Company Section members learnt a little about Artificial Intelligence and had a go at creating their own artwork. They each came up with an idea and then wrote their own prompt for the AI.

Follow the link below to check them out and vote for your favourite. Our winner will get a prize, but we reckon they all turned out brilliantly!
