Our service this Sunday (September 13th) will be taken by Mr David Pickstone. You are very welcome to join us.

The service begins at 10:30 and lasts for about an hour.

We are located on the first floor above the Heart Foundation shop, accessed from the tower in the middle of the pavement. We have a lift, and, once on the first floor, the whole church area is flat and accessible, including an accessible toilet. We also have a hearing loop in use during services.

Children are very welcome, and there is an area with toys and books for them to use during services at the back of the worship room. (We also have collection boxes for Wrexham Foodbank in the entrance hall before and after every service, should you have anything you wish to donate.)

I hope you'll be able to join us on Sunday - and maybe stay with us for tea and coffee after the service too!

𝗔 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵, 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿

𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

It’s funny how something can just make you stop and think.
That is what three teenagers had done outside Regent Street on Friday evening.
I’d just finished saying goodbye to volunteers and young people who had come to explore the Bible and was saying goodbye to Rev James when they started looking and reading the display in the window.
“It’s actually a song…” I heard come out of my mouth. That happens a lot in honesty, speaking without thinking.
“Is it really?” They asked
I replied it was, and sung it “the ink is black, the page is white…”
And then conversation flowed.
“I always look at these displays!” One says. And I praised the creator, (who always does a lovely job)
“So it’s a church then?” One asked motioning at the tower.
“Well that part is just the staircase! Inside goes…” I pointed over the shops “all the way to the back.”
I pulled out my phone and showed them a photo of the worship space.
“It’s huge!!”
“You’d never know it was that big!”
“When is it open?”
“How much does it cost to go in?”
“Can anyone go in?… even me?”
We talked about Sanctuary’s, women preachers, LGBTQ+ communities and how everything wasn’t always black and white like the song suggested. We talked about how it is free and how even 15 year olds (and anyone for that matter!) could come to church even if they were quite giggly - everywhere needs a bit of laughter right?
We didn’t exchange names.
We didn’t make promises to come on a certain date.
We made a step.
A brief connection guided by a window display and my big mouth!
We said goodbye and parted ways.
Maybe they will walk through the church door one day. Maybe they will walk through a church door one day guided by another display, remembering the conversation.

Driving home I thought about how our church fronts help people, and how they can hinder people - sometimes the people inside.
And how maybe sometimes we need to spend some time prayerfully lurking. If I hadn’t been there they still would not know it was a church (despite the large sign!).
A sign saying
‘Come in! You are Welcome!’
Works for some. But it doesn’t mean the job of inviting and being inclusive is done.
For others you need that human touch.
A conversation can start about a display - praise God for that and all who create! - but ten minutes later (if you are lucky!) you get to meet the person, start to know their needs and this is where the church should be. Reaching to help, reaching to serve. Maybe it starts with your window display and time for a conversation.”

Gresford Methodist Church has been invited to share a Coffee Morning with their friends at All Saints Parish Church This is a first step towards re-establishing the closer links we were building before Covid got in the way.
All are welcome, and your support would be much appreciated.

Circuit Service – Reminder

Don't forget that this coming Sunday, 23rd August at 4pm in Regent Street is the Circuit Service at which Collen will be formally accredited as a Local Preacher. Collen has put a lot of hard work into his training and has been supported by a number of other Local Preachers in the process.
