Kingswood Meeting House

Kingswood Meeting House A friendly Unitarian church. Liberal Christian, welcoming, inclusive. Sunday's at 11am
Weddings, (including same sex weddings), baptisms and funerals

A growing, friendly, and inclusive Unitarian and Free Christian congregation in the Midlands. Within our congregation you will find a variety of beliefs, but love unites our community. We find it helps to share the journey with others. As a community we gather to worship, give thanks and praise, and find answers to some of life's tough questions. We continue to honour our Christian heritage, but U

nitarians are very happy to look for fresh approaches to religion. We also acknowledge that the insights of other faiths have much to teach us. We strive to love God and to follow the teachings of Jesus. Kingswood Meeting House is an open and affirming congregation. We warmly welcome visitors.

Be a light in the darkness. We have talked about Candlemas at our service this morning. We always need a source of light in this sometimes dark world.

An inscription in the bombed out ruins of Coventry Cathedral reads "Father, forgive". Unitarians have many ways of seeing God, or the divine, and we might not use the same words, but I think we would all agree with the sentiment, and recognise the importance of today in remembering just what we, as a species are capable of at our darkest moments, and we owe it to those victims to be the voice for justice, the voice for peace, the voice of reason that has been denied them. We remember also today our Jewish friend Suzanne Marburg, who rests outside our chapel. Suzanne escaped the horrors of Na**sm on the Kinder Transport only to tragically lose her life during a bombing raid on Birmingham. May our ways be ways of gentleness, and all our paths be peace.

At this time as many of us reflect on the last year, we know it has brought many different things to different people. Some good, some not so good, but life is a journey, and sometimes we might feel lost or on an unfamiliar road, we might feel nervous or afraid, but we're never really lost, we're where we need to be. Whatever the next year may have in store, we hope and pray that it will be happy, healthy and peaceful. A very happy 2025 from everyone at Kingswood Meeting House.
