Benefice Safeguarding
Parish Churches of Barnack
with Ufford, Bainton, Helpston & Wittering: Safeguarding
“Being faithful to our call to share the gospel therefore compels us to take with the utmost seriousness the challenge of preventing abuse from happening and responding well where it has“.

The 4 churches in this group take their safeguarding responsibilities very seriously and expect correct procedures to be followed at all times. We have adopted in full all the relevant policies issued by Peterborough Diocese. These apply to every area of activity of the Churches and its members. We expect anyone involved with either children or vulnerable adults to be familiar with these principles.

The safeguarding policy has been recently revised, and has been adopted by all the Parochial Church Council meetings.

The Parochial Church Council has made an application to the Peterborough Diocese to establish an area for cremated remains in the churchyard. The reason for this proposal is to better use the remaining space to ensure we can continue to provide this facility for the village. The details of the proposal can be viewed at The Coffee Stop on Townsend Road Wittering or you can discuss them with the Rev Gary Alderson on 07503975588.

Dear All

It's that time of year when Annual Parochial Church Council meetings are coming up. I know - You can barely wait!

But they are a valuable part of the church's life - as it's a chance to see what has been happening, what our challenges are, and consider what our vision for the future should be.
One of the things that is done each year is revising the Electoral Roll.

Being on the Electoral Roll gives you basically the following rights - you can attend the Annual meeting, you can stand for the PCC, and you can vote for who is on the PCC. Each church's Electoral Roll Officer will be putting the current list up on the church notice boards. If you aren't on your Parish Electoral Roll, you can get a form and get it back to the Officer to be added to the list during the fortnight or so the Roll is pinned up. If you are on the Roll, you don't have to worry about doing anything.
To be on the Roll you have to be
a) A baptised Christian prepared to declare yourself a member of the Church of England and
b) EITHER a regular worshipper at the church concerned, OR someone who lives in the Parish.

Please let me know if you want any more information, or grab the Electoral Roll officer for Wittering.
