Just like the Twelve in today's gospel, each of us is called by name. Called and sent into the daily circumstances of our lives, to be apostles of compassion - that flows from the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

We don’t have to look far to see the need to live with that compassionate nature that builds humanity and works against the bitterness and division that can be so easily and falsely stirred up in our communities.

May we know that we too, in our day, have been given the grace of God freely to live in His name and to give freely to others. 🙏

- Culled from Fr Steven's homily on today's 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time.

"For I am certain of this: neither death nor life, nothing that exists, nothing still to come…can ever come between us and the love of God made visible in Christ our Lord!”- (Rom 8:38-39)

As we celebrate the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus today, we rest in the truth that the Heart of Jesus never stops loving, never stops seeking, never stops holding us close.

Sacred Heart of Jesus,
I believe in Your love for me 🙏

On this great feast of Corpus Christi, we celebrate the Eucharist as the embrace of God for each one of us. How fitting, that we also got to witness a beautiful living example of lifelong love and commitment today! A huge congratulations to Mary and Tony Nuttall who received a special anniversary blessing at Mass as they celebrate 60 years of marriage.

In his homily, Fr. Steven shared some beautiful reflections:

✝️The Eucharist is our greatest act of hope - the place where we can bring our greatest joys to celebrate, and our deepest struggles to find comfort and help.

✝️It is the heart of who we are. Without the Mass, our faith and our community would eventually fall apart. In the Eucharist we are strengthened and enabled to be the presence of God in our world.

✝️ Holy Communion builds true communion. The Eucharist unites us intimately with Christ and closely with one another.

✝️It is food for our journey. No matter the ups and downs of life, Christ sustains us in the Holy Eucharist.

May we always cherish this beautiful gift of love.

Each time we make the Sign of the Cross, we wrap ourselves up in God - as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. What a beautiful takeaway from today's Trinity Sunday homily!

As we begin this new week, we pray St. Paul’s beautiful blessing from today's second reading for our entire parish family:

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with us always. Amen. 🙏

Lovely to see Fr. John meeting with Pope Leo this week.

Fr. John met the Pope in a private audience during a gathering of former students of The English College in Rome. A truly special occasion.

We celebrate this great feast of Pentecost as we thank God for the gift of the Holy Spirit Jesus promised us from the Father.

We pray that, as brothers and sisters of Jesus, we can breathe in what He breathes out — the Spirit of God — so that we can know how to be human, how to be children of God, and how to live His love.

Tomorrow, Pope Leo will release his first encyclical, Magnifica humanitas, on the safeguarding of the human person in the age of artificial intelligence.

We pray for the Holy Spirit to guide us into this new age — that the gifts of the Spirit will renew the face of the earth in a new age and a new era.

With only 10 days to go, we are rooting for our parishioner Bernie as he runs the Great Manchester Half Marathon for Caritas Diocese of Salford on 31st May. Paula Crosland, the daughter of one of our parishioners, is also taking part in the run.

Bernie and Paula’s efforts will help Caritas continue their vital work supporting those facing poverty and hardship across our diocese.

You can show your support via Bernie's JustGiving page [ https://www.justgiving.com/page/bernie-boardman-3?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL] or by signing the sponsorship sheets in church.

Thank you for your kindness and your prayers!
