This year, St Chad’s has joined the village scarecrow trail with our take on Baa Baa Black Sheep — but with a deeper meaning behind it.
Our shepherd is carrying one black sheep while the others stay at his feet, inspired by the story Jesus told about the shepherd who goes looking for the one sheep that wandered off.
Because that’s the heart of our faith and the heart of community too: nobody is forgotten, nobody is beyond love, and nobody has to have life perfectly together to belong.
In a world where people can often feel isolated, judged, or left behind, we want our scarecrow to be a simple reminder that you matter, you are valued, and you are always welcome.
By taking part in the scarecrow trail, we’re not just opening the church doors — we’re stepping out into the life of the village, celebrating community, conversation, and togetherness.
So as you follow the trail, keep an eye out for our black sheep… because sometimes the one who feels furthest away is the one most worth finding. 🐑💛
