𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐀-𝟏𝟑𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Holy God, you have called us here today; and so as we gather in your house we offer to you our prayers which stem from our love for you and our love and concern for those we love and for the people of the world.

𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐲: 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫.

Lord God, when the Church joins together, we can show people a much fuller picture of Jesus and His Kingdom. We pray for your church, and the churches in our local community, and ask that there will be a growing desire to get together and get out. We give you thanks for those who come up with fresh ways of making your name known to the wider community and for those who work so hard to make fellowship and fund-raising events so pleasurable and financially successful.

Creator God, we pray not only for the victims but for the perpetrators of evil and violence in our world; for all governments which run on corruption and fear. We pray for a change of heart and attitude, an awakening to a better way of living, and the courage to reject wrong principles.

Father God, forgive us when we waste our lives by being too busy to enjoy your creation. Teach us how to make spaces in the day to do the things we most enjoy. Just as you rested from your work, help us to practise the discipline of recreation and help me to become your hands and feet in my street so that my neighbours will one day ask me to tell them more about you.

Be close to those who are recently bereaved, strengthen them with the knowledge that you are always there to lean on and to be carried through difficult times.

Faithful God, at the start of this new week, help us to be an example to others and show us the practical steps we need to take to develop consistency and integrity in all that we do in our lives.

Everlasting God, Lord of compassion and gracious understanding, we come with an openness to express our concerns for the Church and the world, and to thank you, for your goodness.

Merciful God we recognise that the work of helping people through life can leave church leaders vulnerable to spiritual attack. We thank you for our church leaders and pray that they won’t allow criticism or negativity to blunt their ministry; that they will hear encouragement, and that they will always respond in love and forgiveness when difficulties arise.

And we especially pray for any we know who recently died and are on that journey to you.

Through these prayers we come with openness to express our concerns for the Church and the world, to the God of compassion and gracious understanding.

Help all students in their daily lessons; give them the wisdom to listen and learn. Help their teachers and give them patience and knowledge to teach well and help them all as together they learn the lessons of life.

We pray for all who are vulnerable and unable to cope with the demands of life, for alcoholics, drug addicts and all who are sick in mind. We pray for proper, compassionate help for them.

Almighty God, we thank you for the gift of your Son Jesus Christ and for revealing him as Messiah and Saviour of the World. Thank you that your son gave St Peter the keys to the kingdom as a reward for his lively and outspoken faith and so became the bedrock foundation of your church here on earth.

Creator God, as wildfires threaten land, homes, and lives, we ask for Your protection and swift intervention. Guard every person in the path of the flames, strengthen firefighters, turn the winds, and send rain. Bring comfort to those who have lost homes or property, restore communities, and bring peace to hearts shaken by fear.

May we never be a "stumbling block" to those we meet in our daily lives.

Merciful God, we pray for all those departed this life and for those who are bereaved by their passing. Help us to be sympathetic, caring and loving with the bereaved and always ready to help practically and to pray diligently in their time of greatest need.

Loving God, we recognise our responsibility to encourage and uphold one another and to live together in peace and love. We also recognise our needs and our human weaknesses and come to you now with our prayers and petitions.

Holy God, we pray for your church and ask that it might always provide a solid foundation upon which we can anchor our lives. We especially pray for Christians who pay a heavy price for their faith; who daily experience hostility, from their governments, employers and neighbours, as a result of their identification with Christ.

Creator God, you created us to be stewards of your creation but we have chopped down forests, polluted the air, poisoned the rivers and seas, destroyed the places where animals live and then pursued them to extinction. Help us change our ways so that we can look after the world, and to make it the way that you want it to be.

Gracious God, we remember with gratitude all who gave up so much to bring the good news to our country and pray that with us it may continue to be spread until the whole earth knows of your truth and love.

Almighty God, as a church we daily pray that “Your Kingdom Come” but most of the time we so often live in ways that prevent its coming. We spend too much of our time trying to build our own human kingdom, putting ourselves, rather than you, at the centre of our lives. Send your spirit to remind us that you are “First” and others are “Second” and we are “Third”.

Holy God, we pray for your church especially in our chaplaincy, the clergy and reader, the wardens and officials and all those who serve on church councils. Thank you too for those who provide music, hospitality and flowers; those who assist, serve read and pray.

Creator God, we thank you for the example of leadership given to us by your Son, Jesus Christ, in his life on earth. We pray for the renewal of a spirit of humility and a sense of responsibility among leaders of this world that the hungry might be fed and the oppressed might be freed to live in peace.

Everlasting God, we join together in praying to you for the needs of the church, the world, our communities and ourselves, trusting in your love which reaches out from before the foundation of the world.

Gracious God, we pray for your church, and the churches in our local community asking that there will be a growing desire to get together. We give you thanks for those who come up with fresh ways of making your name known to the wider community. We remember the General Synod, which meet this coming week in York and for all those who work so hard to make important and sometimes difficult decisions regarding the everyday running of the Church of England.

Creator God, we pray for your world. Forgive us when we are ungrateful when spiritual blindness prevents us from appreciating the wonder of your creation and the endless cycle of nature. Forgive us for taking without giving; reaping without sowing. We pray for the farmers of the world, many of whom still use those methods described by Jesus and we especially pray that they may be treated with fairness for their labours. We especially remember those who work with the land and suffering so badly from climate change.
