New dates and venues for Living Faith for Grandparents.

Simple. Practical. Meaningful.

Grandparents have a unique opportunity to shape the faith of the next generation. Living Faith for Grandparents is a warm, encouraging and practical session designed to help grandparents discover simple ways to share faith naturally in everyday life.

Together we’ll explore how to create visible examples of faith, help children make sense of life with God, and speak encouragement and purpose into the lives of younger generations.

The sessions will be led by Steven Mitchell, Children and Youth Development Officer for URC Mersey Synod, who will offer practical ideas, conversation, and encouragement for grandparents who want to make a lasting spiritual impact.

Join us and discover ways to:

• See your faith – create windows they can see
• Share life – help children make sense of life with God
• Speak life – encourage them in who they are

Youth Mental Health First Aid training is coming up!

This new Youth MHFA course, delivered by members of the CYDO+ team, is designed to give you the knowledge, awareness and practical skills to support young people experiencing emotional distress or poor mental health.

By completing the course, you will gain:
The knowledge and confidence to spot the signs of emotional distress or poor mental health in a young person
The confidence to start a conversation about mental health
The tools to safeguard and signpost young people to appropriate support

The course takes place online over four sessions and is at the discounted price of £35:

20, 22, 27 and 29 January

Governance Matters is coming to Heswall.

Good governance helps our churches work well, make thoughtful decisions and support the people who bring church life to life.

Join us at Heswall URC for an evening of Governance Matters, with an opportunity to learn, ask questions and build confidence around the responsibilities that help our churches run well.

And it connects closely with Living Faith too. Faith is lived out in the everyday – in our workplaces, communities and churches – and the decisions we make behind the scenes help create churches that are able to serve, welcome and respond to their communities.

Our next Living Faith gathering is coming up on Saturday 7 November, and we’d love you to join us.

We’ll be gathering at Upton URC, 40 Heath Road, Upton, Chester, CH2 1HX, with coffee and worship from 9.30am, before the main session from 10am–12.30pm.

Together we’ll explore two of LICC’s 6 M’s: Moulding Culture, with Anthony Burns, and Making Good Work, with a panel of guests.

Living Faith is about discovering what faith looks like beyond Sunday worship – in our workplaces, relationships, communities and the ordinary moments that make up our lives.

Come along, be part of the conversation and explore what living your faith might look like where God has placed you.

Governance is part of the everyday life of our churches – helping us make good decisions, work well together and create communities where people can serve and flourish.

Join us for Governance Matters at Elmwood Avenue URC, Warrington, for an afternoon focused on supporting good governance across our churches.

There’s a link here too with Living Faith. How we organise, lead and make decisions might often happen quietly behind the scenes, but it helps create the foundations that allow our churches to live out their faith in their congregations and wider communities.

There was something particularly special about gathering at Christ Church, Port Sunlight, for this year’s Founders Day.

The celebration gave us time to remember the people whose faith, commitment and service laid the foundations for the church community we know today. As part of the ceremony, we reflected on the history of Christ Church and gave thanks for those who have gone before us, while also thinking about the part each of us plays in carrying that faith forward.

It felt especially fitting from a Living Faith perspective. Faith is not simply something we inherit or something contained within the walls of a church. It is something we live, share and pass on through our everyday lives – through the way we serve, the relationships we build and the difference we make in our communities.

Founders Day was a chance to honour where Christ Church has come from, but also to look ahead with hope to everything still to come.

On Tuesday 8th September at Westminster, The Gather Movement together with Zoe Franklin MP presented the report Heart of the Neighbourhood – How the church is providing essential services in every part of the country.

The report highlights the significant impact churches have in our communities. The report noted of the 1,632 participating churches there was a staggering 12,840 initiatives covering mental health, food security, children and families and housing and homelessness being run by local churches.

The event was attended by a number of URC members including Geoff Felton, Michael Hopkins, Mike Thomason and George Watt. Highlighting the good work that is happening nationally the report had no specific denominational focus and drew on a wide range of ecclesial traditions.
