ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehla:

ਫਿਰਤ ਫਿਰਤ ਭੇਟੇ ਜਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ ॥
Wandering and roaming around, I met the Holy Perfect Guru, who has taught me.

ਆਨ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਾਂਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
All other devices did not work, so I meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਓਟ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
For this reason, I sought the Protection and Support of my Lord, the Cherisher of the Universe.

ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਗਲ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
I sought the Sanctuary of the Perfect Transcendent Lord, and all my entanglements were dissolved. ||Pause||

ਸੁਰਗ ਮਿਰਤ ਪਇਆਲ ਭੂ ਮੰਡਲ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਪੇ ਮਾਇ ॥
Paradise, the earth, the nether regions of the underworld, and the globe of the world - all are engrossed in Maya.

ਜੀਅ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਸਭ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੨॥
To save your soul, and liberate all your ancestors, meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||2||

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥
O Nanak, singing the Naam, the Name of the Immaculate Lord, all treasures are obtained.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਬਿਰਲੇ ਕਾਹੂ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੩॥੩॥੨੧॥
Only that rare person, whom the Lord and Master blesses with His Grace, comes to know this. ||3||3||21||

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥
Shalok, Third Mehla:

ਪੜਣਾ ਗੁੜਣਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥
Reading and studying are just worldly pursuits, if there is thirst and corruption within.

ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਭਿ ਪੜਿ ਥਕੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
Reading in egotism, all have grown weary; through the love of duality, they are ruined.

ਸੋ ਪੜਿਆ ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਬੀਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
He alone is educated, and he alone is a wise Pandit, who contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਅੰਦਰੁ ਖੋਜੈ ਤਤੁ ਲਹੈ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
He searches within himself, and finds the true essence; he finds the Door of Salvation.

ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
He finds the Lord, the treasure of excellence, and peacefully contemplates Him.

ਧੰਨੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
Blessed is the trader, O Nanak, who, as Gurmukh, takes the Name as his only Support. ||1||

ਮਃ ੩ ॥
Third Mehla:

ਵਿਣੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਿਝਈ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਕੋ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
Without conquering his mind, no one can be successful. See this, and concentrate on it.

ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ਤੀਰਥੀ ਭਵਿ ਥਕੇ ਨਾ ਏਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
The wandering holy men are tired of of making pilgrimages to sacred shrines; they have not been able to conquer their minds.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
The Gurmukh has conquered his mind, and he remains lovingly absorbed in the True Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਲੁ ਇਉ ਉਤਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
O Nanak, this is how the filth of the mind is removed; the Word of the Shabad burns away the ego. ||2||

Pauree:

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵਹੁ ਇਕ ਕਿਨਕਾ ॥
O Saints of the Lord, O my Siblings of Destiny, please meet with me, and implant the Name of the One Lord within me.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਬਨਾਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਪੜੁ ਪਹਿਰਹੁ ਖਿਮ ਕਾ ॥
O humble servants of the Lord, adorn me with the decorations of the Lord, Har, Har; let me wear the robes of the Lord's forgiveness.

ਐਸਾ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਿਮ ਕਾ ॥
Such decorations are pleasing to my God; such love is dear to the Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟੈ ਇਕ ਪਲਕਾ ॥
I chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, day and night; in an instant, all sins are eradicated.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਉਪਰਿ ਸੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਿਣਕਾ ॥੨੧॥
That Gurmukh, unto whom the Lord becomes merciful, chants the Lord's Name, and wins the game of life. ||21||

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਿ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਕੀਏ ਸੋਈ ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
All beings and creatures were created by Him; He alone is the support and friend of the Saints.

ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਆਪੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਈ ਬਡਾਈ ॥੧॥
He Himself preserves the honor of His servants; their glorious greatness becomes perfect. ||1||

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਮੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
The Perfect Supreme Lord God is always with me.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪੂਰੀ ਸਭ ਰਾਖੀ ਹੋਏ ਸਰਬ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
The Perfect Guru has perfectly and totally protected me, and now everyone is kind and compassionate to me. ||1||Pause||

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
Night and day, Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; He is the Giver of the soul, and the breath of life itself.

ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਰਾਖੈ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਪਿਤ ਮਾਤਾ ॥੨॥੨੨॥੫੦॥
He hugs His slave close in His loving embrace, like the mother and father hug their child. ||2||22||50||

Raamkalee, First Mehl:Awareness of the Shabad and the Teachings is my horn; the people hear the sound of its vibrations.Honor is my begging-bowl, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the charity I receive. ||1||O Baba, Gorakh is the Lord of the Universe; He is always awake and aware.He alone is Gorakh, who sustains the earth; He created it in an instant. ||1||Pause||Binding together water and air, He infused the breath of life into the body, and made the lamps of the sun and the moon.To die and to live, He gave us the earth, but we have forgotten these blessings. ||2||There are so many Siddhas, seekers, Yogis, wandering pilgrims, spiritual teachers and good people.If I meet them, I chant the Lord's Praises, and then, my mind serves Him. ||3||Paper and salt, protected by ghee, remain untouched by water, as the lotus remains unaffected in water.Those who meet with such devotees, O servant Nanak - what can death do to them? ||4||4||

ਪਦਅਰਥ: ਨੋਟ:ਜੋਗੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤੀ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸਦਾਅ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਫਿਰ ਸਿੰਙੀ ਵਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਝੋਲੀ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਛਿਆ ਪਵਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਰਤਿ = ਪ੍ਰਭੂ = ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਧਿਆਨ। ਸਬਦੁ = ਸੱਦ, ਸਦਾਅ, ਜੋਗੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਦਾਅ। ਸਾਖੀ = ਸਾਖੀ ਹੋਣਾ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਾਖਿਆਤ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨਾ। ਸਿੰਙੀ = ਸਿੰਙ ਦਾ ਵਾਜਾ ਜੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਵਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਲੋਕੁ ਸੁਣੇ = (ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਸਦਾਅ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਤੁ = ਪਾਤ੍ਰ, ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਯੋਗ ਪਾਤ੍ਰ ਬਣਾਣਾ। ਕੈ ਤਾਈ = ਵਾਸਤੇ। ਭੀਖਿਆ = ਭਿੱਛਿਆ।੧।ਬਾਬਾ = ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਜਿਨਿ = ਜਿਸ (ਗੋਰਖ) ਨੇ। ਗੋਇ = ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ, ਧਰਤੀ। ਉਠਾਲੀ = ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਕਰਤੇ = ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਨੂੰ। ਬਾਰ = ਦੇਰ, ਚਿਰ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।ਪਾਣੀ ਪਵਣਿ = ਪਾਣੀ ਤੇ ਪਵਣ (ਆਦਿਕ ਤੱਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁਦਾਇ) ਵਿਚ। ਬੰਧਿ = ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ। ਪ੍ਰਾਣ = ਜਿੰਦਾਂ। ਮੁਖਿ = ਮੁਖੀ। ਦੀਏ = ਦੀਵੇ। ਮਰਣ ਜੀਵਣ ਕਉ = ਵੱਸਣ ਲਈ। ਏਤੇ = ਇਤਨੇ, ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ।੨।ਸਿਧ = (ਜੋਗ = ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਪੁੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੋਗੀ। ਸਾਧਿਕ = ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ। ਜੰਗਮ = ਸ਼ੈਵਮਤ ਦੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਜੋ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਸੱਪ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਦੀ ਰੱਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਧਾਤ ਦਾ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਪਹਿਨਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਪਿੱਤਲ ਦੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਮੋਰ ਦੇ ਖੰਭਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਜਾ ਕੇ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ = ਅਨੇਕਾਂ। ਤਿਨ = ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ। ਮਿਲਾ = ਮੈਂ ਮਿਲਾਂ। ਕੀਰਤਿ = ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ। ਆਖਾ = ਮੈਂ ਆਖਾਂ।੩।ਰਹੈ– ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਘ੍ਰਿਤ = ਘਿਉ। ਸੰਗੇ = ਨਾਲ। ਐਸੇ = ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ। ਕਿਆ ਕਰੈ = ਕੁਝ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।੪।

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਗੋਰਖ ਦਾ ਚੇਲਾ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ ਮੇਰਾ) ਗੋਰਖ (ਸਦਾ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ) ਜਾਗਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਮੇਰਾ) ਗੋਰਖ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਚਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
(ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ) ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਸਦਾਅ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜਨੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਦਾਅ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਖਿਆਤ ਵੇਖਣਾ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਮੇਰੀ ਸਿੰਙੀ ਵੱਜ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। (ਉਸ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਭਿੱਛਿਆ) ਮੰਗਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਯੋਗ ਪਾਤ੍ਰ ਬਣਾਣਾ ਮੈਂ (ਮੋਢੇ ਉਤੇ) ਝੋਲੀ ਪਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਤਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਭਿੱਛਿਆ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ।੧।(ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ) ਪਾਣੀ ਪਉਣ (ਆਦਿਕ ਤੱਤਾਂ) ਵਿਚ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਸੂਰਜ ਤੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਮੁਖੀ ਦੀਵੇ ਬਣਾਏ ਹਨ, ਵੱਸਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਧਰਤੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਇਤਨੇ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।੨।ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੰਗਮ ਜੋਗੀ ਪੀਰ ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੁੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੋਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹੀ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ (ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ) ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਕਰੇਗਾ।੩।ਜਿਵੇਂ ਲੂਣ ਘਿਉ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਗਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਾਗ਼ਜ਼ ਘਿਉ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਕੁਮਲਾਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੁਝ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।੪।੪।

अर्थ: (जो प्रभु सारे) जगत को सुनता है (भाव, सारे जगत की सदाअ सुनता है) उसके चरणों में तवज्जो जोड़नी मेरी सदाअ है, उसको अपने अंदर साक्षात देखना (उसके दर पर) मेरी सिंगी बज रही है। (उसके दर से भिक्षा) मांगने के लिए अपने आप को योग्य पात्र बनाना, (ये) मैंने (कंधे पर) झोली डाली हुई है, ता कि मुझे नाम-भिक्षा मिल जाए।1। हे जोगी! (मैं भी गोरख का चेला हूँ, पर मेरा) गोरख (सदा जीता-) जागता है। (मेरा) गोरख वह है जिसने सृष्टि पैदा की है, और पैदा करते हुए समय नहीं लगता।1। रहाउ। (जिस परमात्मा ने) पानी-पवन (आदि तत्वों) में (जीवों के) प्राण टिका के रख दिए हैं, सूर्य और चंद्रमा मुखी दीए बनाए हैं, बसने के लिए (जीवों को) धरती दी है (जीवों ने उसको भुला के उसके) इतने उपकार बिसार दिए हैं।2। जगत में अनेक जंगम-जोगी, पीर जोग-साधना में सिद्ध हुए जोगी और अन्य साधन करने वाले देखने में आते हैं, पर मैं तो यदि उन्हें मिलूँगा तो (उनसे मिलके) परमात्मा की महिमा ही करूँगा (मेरा जीवन-उद्देश्य यही है) मेरा मन प्रभु का नाम जपना ही करेगा।3। जैसे नमक घी में पड़ा गलता नहीं, जैसे कागज़ घी में रखा गलता नहीं, जैसे कमल फूल पानी में रहने से कुम्हलाता नहीं, इसी तरह, हे दास नानक! भक्त जन परमात्मा के चरणों में मिले रहते हैं, यम उनका कुछ बिगाड़ नहीं सकता।4।4।

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥
Shalok, Fifth Mehla:

ਭੀੜਹੁ ਮੋਕਲਾਈ ਕੀਤੀਅਨੁ ਸਭ ਰਖੇ ਕੁਟੰਬੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
He has widened the narrow path for me, and preserved my integrity, along with that of my family.

ਕਾਰਜ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਅਨੁ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਦਾ ਸਭਾਲਿ ॥
He Himself has arranged and resolved my affairs. I dwell upon that God forever.

ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇਦਾ ਲਹੁੜੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਪਾਲਿ ॥
God is my mother and father; He hugs me close in His embrace, and cherishes me, like His tiny baby.

ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋਏ ਸਭ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੧॥
All beings and creatures have become kind and compassionate to me. O Nanak, the Lord has blessed me with His Glance of Grace. ||1||

ਮਃ ੫ ॥
Fifth Mehla:

ਵਿਣੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਜਿ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਦੁਖਾ ਕੈ ਦੁਖ ॥
To ask for any other than You, Lord, is the most miserable of miseries.

ਦੇਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਉਤਰੈ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਭੁਖ ॥
Please bless me with Your Name, and make me content; may the hunger of my mind be satisfied.

ਗੁਰਿ ਵਣੁ ਤਿਣੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਕੀਤਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਆ ਮਨੁਖ ॥੨॥
The Guru has made the woods and meadows green again. O Nanak, is it any wonder that He blesses human beings as well? ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ ॥
Pauree:

ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ॥
Such is that Great Giver; may I never forget Him from my mind.

ਘੜੀ ਨ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਚਸਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾ ਸਰੈ ॥
I cannot survive without Him, for an instant, for a moment, for a second.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਲੁਕਿ ਕਰੈ ॥
Inwardly and outwardly, He is with us; how can we hide anything from Him?

ਜਿਸੁ ਪਤਿ ਰਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਸੋ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰੈ ॥
One whose honor He Himself has preserved, crosses over the terrifying world-ocean.

ਭਗਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਤਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
He alone is a devotee, a spiritual teacher, and a disciplined pratictioner of meditation, whom the Lord has so blessed.

ਸੋ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਬਲੁ ਧਰੈ ॥
He alone is perfect and renowned as supreme, whom the Lord has blessed with His power.

ਜਿਸਹਿ ਜਰਾਏ ਆਪਿ ਸੋਈ ਅਜਰੁ ਜਰੈ ॥
He alone endures the unendurable, whom the Lord inspires to endure it.

ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਚੁ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਨਿ ਧਰੈ ॥੩॥
And he alone meets the True Lord, within whose mind the Guru's Mantra is implanted. ||3||

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥
Dhanaasaree, Fourth Mehla:

ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਾ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
O my King, beholding the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, I am at peace.

ਹਮਰੀ ਬੇਦਨਿ ਤੂ ਜਾਨਤਾ ਸਾਹਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
You alone know my inner pain, O King; what can anyone else know? ||Pause||

ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਚੁ ਸਭੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
O True Lord and Master, You are truly my King; whatever You do, all that is True.

ਝੂਠਾ ਕਿਸ ਕਉ ਆਖੀਐ ਸਾਹਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
Who should I call a liar? There is no other than You, O King. ||1||

ਸਭਨਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਤੂ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਾਹਾ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
You are pervading and permeating in all; O King, everyone meditates on You, day and night.

ਸਭਿ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਥਾਵਹੁ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਾ ਤੂ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਇਕ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੨॥
Everyone begs of You, O my King; You alone give gifts to all. ||2||

ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਾ ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
All are under Your Power, O my King; none at all are beyond You.

ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਸਭਸ ਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਾ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
All beings are Yours-You belong to all, O my King. All shall merge and be absorbed in You. ||3||

ਸਭਨਾ ਕੀ ਤੂ ਆਸ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹ ॥
You are the hope of all, O my Beloved; all meditate on You, O my King.

ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖੁ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੩॥
As it pleases You, protect and preserve me, O my Beloved; You are the True King of Nanak. ||4||7||13||

ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
Raamkalee, First Mehla:

ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਾਖੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਿੰਙੀ ਬਾਜੈ ਲੋਕੁ ਸੁਣੇ ॥
Awareness of the Shabad and the Teachings is my horn; the people hear the sound of its vibrations.

ਪਤੁ ਝੋਲੀ ਮੰਗਣ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਪੜੇ ॥੧॥
Honor is my begging-bowl, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the charity I receive. ||1||

ਬਾਬਾ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਜਾਗੈ ॥
O Baba, Gorakh is the Lord of the Universe; He is always awake and aware.

ਗੋਰਖੁ ਸੋ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੋਇ ਉਠਾਲੀ ਕਰਤੇ ਬਾਰ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
He alone is Gorakh, who sustains the earth; He created it in an instant. ||1||Pause||

ਪਾਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਪਵਣਿ ਬੰਧਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਦੀਏ ॥
Binding together water and air, He infused the breath of life into the body, and made the lamps of the sun and the moon.

ਮਰਣ ਜੀਵਣ ਕਉ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀਨੀ ਏਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਵਿਸਰੇ ॥੨॥
To die and to live, He gave us the earth, but we have forgotten these blessings. ||2||

ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਅਰੁ ਜੋਗੀ ਜੰਗਮ ਪੀਰ ਪੁਰਸ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ॥
There are so many Siddhas, seekers, Yogis, wandering pilgrims, spiritual teachers and good people.

ਜੇ ਤਿਨ ਮਿਲਾ ਤ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਆਖਾ ਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੇ ॥੩॥
If I meet them, I chant the Lord's Praises, and then, my mind serves Him. ||3||

ਕਾਗਦੁ ਲੂਣੁ ਰਹੈ ਘ੍ਰਿਤ ਸੰਗੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਕਮਲੁ ਰਹੈ ॥
Paper and salt, protected by ghee, remain untouched by water, as the lotus remains unaffected in water.

ਐਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਜਮੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੈ ॥੪॥੪॥
Those who meet with such devotees, O servant Nanak - what can death do to them? ||4||4||

ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla:

ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਮੋਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
If it pleases You, then cherish me.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ ਪਿਤਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
O Supreme Lord God, Transcendent Lord, O True Guru, I am Your child, and You are my Merciful Father. ||1||Pause||

ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਗੁਣੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਤੁਮ੍ਹਰੀ ਘਾਲ ॥
I am worthless; I have no virtues at all. I cannot understand Your actions.

ਤੁਮਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਮਾਲ ॥੧॥
You alone know Your state and extent. My soul, body and property are all Yours. ||1||

ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਨਬੋਲਤ ਹੀ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਹਾਲ ॥
You are the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, the Primal Lord and Master; You know even what is unspoken.

ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੨੧॥
My body and mind are cooled and soothed, O Nanak, by God's Glance of Grace. ||2||5||121||

ਆਸਾ ॥
Aasaa:

ਬਾਰਹ ਬਰਸ ਬਾਲਪਨ ਬੀਤੇ ਬੀਸ ਬਰਸ ਕਛੁ ਤਪੁ ਨ ਕੀਓ ॥
Twelve years pass in childhood, and for another twenty years, he does not practice self-discipline and austerity.

ਤੀਸ ਬਰਸ ਕਛੁ ਦੇਵ ਨ ਪੂਜਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਨਾ ਬਿਰਧਿ ਭਇਓ ॥੧॥
For another thirty years, he does not worship God in any way, and then, when he is old, he repents and regrets. ||1||

ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਤੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਇਓ ॥
His life wastes away as he cries out, ""Mine, mine!""

ਸਾਇਰੁ ਸੋਖਿ ਭੁਜੰ ਬਲਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
The pool of his power has dried up. ||1||Pause||

ਸੂਕੇ ਸਰਵਰਿ ਪਾਲਿ ਬੰਧਾਵੈ ਲੂਣੈ ਖੇਤਿ ਹਥ ਵਾਰਿ ਕਰੈ ॥
He makes a dam around the dried-up pool, and with his hands, he makes a fence around the harvested field.

ਆਇਓ ਚੋਰੁ ਤੁਰੰਤਹ ਲੇ ਗਇਓ ਮੇਰੀ ਰਾਖਤ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਫਿਰੈ ॥੨॥
When the thief of Death comes, he quickly carries away what the fool had tried to preserve as his own. ||2||

ਚਰਨ ਸੀਸੁ ਕਰ ਕੰਪਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਨੈਨੀ ਨੀਰੁ ਅਸਾਰ ਬਹੈ ॥
His feet and head and hands begin to tremble, and the tears flow copiously from his eyes.

ਜਿਹਵਾ ਬਚਨੁ ਸੁਧੁ ਨਹੀ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਤਬ ਰੇ ਧਰਮ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਕਰੈ ॥੩॥
His tongue has not spoken the correct words, but now, he hopes to practice religion! ||3||

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵੈ ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੀਓ ॥
If the Dear Lord shows His Mercy, one enshrines love for Him, and obtains the Profit of the Lord's Name.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਅੰਤੇ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਚਲਿਓ ॥੪॥
By Guru's Grace, he receives the wealth of the Lord's Name, which alone shall go with him, when he departs in the end. ||4||

ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਅਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਕਛੂਐ ਲੈ ਨ ਗਇਓ ॥
Says Kabeer, listen, O Saints - he shall not take any other wealth with him.

ਆਈ ਤਲਬ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਰਾਇ ਕੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੰਦਰ ਛੋਡਿ ਚਲਿਓ ॥੫॥੨॥੧੫॥
When the summons comes from the King, the Lord of the Universe, the mortal departs, leaving behind his wealth and mansions. ||5||2||15||
