Planning at FS always begins with the children and their needs. Following a little incident last term with our bunnies after one of our children let Thumper out of his cage. Leading to three new baby bunnies (kittens) now official named as Artemis ( mum fell pregnant during the space expedition to the moon ), famously known as the ancient Greek goddess of the hunt, wild animals and caring for children. Zeus and Callisto, one of Artemis’s followers. The bunnies led to lots of discussions around personal space, safety and lots of fun caring for our three new bunnies. At the beginning of this term we planned to further support the children’s knowledge and understanding and the importance of boundaries and personal space and privacy. This sparked our PANTs display in the children’s toilets.
Our curiosity style approach of planning has led to lots of conversations between each other, and children chatting about their bodies and their space - children have been making up rhymes and songs. Alongside this children have showed lots of interest in cutting and using scissors.
More recently, our garden has been planted and we are hoping to follow the children’s interest in how food grows and the benefits of growing our own food. below is a couple of our planning photos.
