A massive thank you to everyone who stepped up today to help move the heavy equipment into the recreation centre!

​Whether a task takes ten minutes or ten hours, every bit of community effort makes a huge difference to keeping our parish running smoothly.

Join us at The Third Great Cornish Green Energy Summit on Sunday 13th September 2026 (11:00 am – 4:00 pm) at Chacewater Village Hall (TR4 8PZ) for a day dedicated to Cornwall's clean energy future!

​GB Energy & Local Energy: A special one-hour session with Community Energy Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly (CECS) focusing on setting up community energy projects, storage, and supply with funding from GB Energy.

🌟 Community Update: What’s your Parish Council been up to? 🌟

​We’ve been busy behind the scenes working on local projects, safety updates, and community events across the parish. Here’s a quick round-up of what we’ve been up to recently:

​🏛️ Recreation Centre Progress
We’ve been working on getting professional reports prepared for the recreation centre. These expert assessments will allow the council to clearly identify the key next steps required to move this project forward.

​🛝 Chacewater Playground Repairs
Great news for local families—we’ve arranged for repairs to the playground surface in Chacewater. Weather permitting, work is scheduled to start next week!

​⚽ Chacewater Football Field Entrance
Plans are moving forward for the entrance to the football field on Church Hill, with work expected to commence very soon to improve access.

​♻️ Car Park Textile Recycling
We are investigating the provision of an additional commercial textile recycling bank for the car park. We’re doing our due diligence to ensure the provider offers strong ethical standards, true environmental sustainability, and a reliable collection routine.

​❤️ New Defibrillator for Twelveheads
We have officially resolved to support the provision of a new public-access defibrillator in Twelveheads! To make this happen, we’re launching a fundraising initiative and hoping to partner with a neighbouring parish council to secure the required funds.

​☕ Upcoming Community Activities & Festive Events
We’re currently exploring ideas for new community activity sessions! On the horizon, we're considering a special Christmas event featuring digital arts and crafts, community coffee mornings, and a bake sale. Stay tuned for details!

​⚙️ Strengthening Council Operations
Behind the scenes, we’ve overhauled our governance procedures and internal controls. By tightening and streamlining our administrative committees, we're ensuring the council works as cohesively and efficiently as possible for our community.

​Our parish is at its best when it is run by the people who know and love it most—our community! 🏡 Heartfelt local decisions should stay in local hands, but to keep it that way, we need your help. 💡

​⚠️ Without an active Parish Council, control of our parish passes directly to Cornwall Council. To preserve our local voice and ensure decisions are rooted right here in our village, we need willing volunteers from our community to step forward. 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️

​⏱️ Being a councillor doesn’t mean giving up all your free time. By offering just a couple of hours a month, you can help protect our community assets, shape exciting local projects, and support our parish in becoming an even more amazing place to live. 🌳✨

Want to make a real difference in your local area? Join our team and help shape the future of Chacewater!

​Chacewater Parish Council is looking to co-opt new Parish Councillors to join the team. If you want to have your say and actively shape our local community, we would love to hear from you.

​Who is eligible❓️
​To apply, you must be at least 18 years old, a British citizen (or a citizen of the Commonwealth/EU), and meet at least one of the following criteria:

🟡​ Registered as a local government elector for the parish.

🟢 ​Occupied land or premises in the parish (as owner or tenant) for the last 12 months.

🔵​ Had your principal or main place of work in the parish for the last 12 months.

🟣 ​Lived in the parish, or within 4.8 km (3 miles) of it, for the last 12 months.

​How to Apply
​Interested in making a real impact? Submit a written letter of application outlining your interest to the Parish Clerk.

Parish & Cornish Fact: The Engine That Changed History ⚙️

​Cornwall is world-renowned for mining innovation, but did you know our parish was right at the centre of the Industrial Revolution?

​In 1777, world-famous engineer James Watt erected one of his very first pioneering steam pumping engines right here at Wheal Busy (then known as the "Great Chacewater Mine"). Watt was brought in to solve a massive flooding problem, his revolutionary machine pumped out over 9,000 gallons of water per minute!

​The parish was at the absolute cutting edge of global engineering technology during the 18th century, developing techniques that were later exported across the world, from South America to Australia. 🌍

​Today, those historic engine stacks still stand proud against our skyline, a key part of our UNESCO World Heritage landscape and a powerful reminder of local ingenuity. 🏗️

🚨PARISH CAR PARK UPDATE – ABANDONED & UNROADWORTHY VEHICLES

​To keep our parish car park clean, safe, and accessible for residents, visitors, and local businesses, the Parish Council is taking action regarding vehicles that appear to be unroadworthy or abandoned.

​What is changing?
📄Notices are now being placed on vehicles parked in the parish car park that are suspected of:

❌️ ​Having no valid MOT
❌️​ Having no valid tax or insurance
❌️ ​Being abandoned or left stationary for an extended period

​How the process works:
​21-Day Notice Period: Once a notice is placed on a vehicle, the owner has 21 days to follow the instructions provided on the sticker or remove the vehicle.

​Escalation: If a vehicle remains unaddressed after the 21 days, the details will be formally passed to Cornwall Council.

​Removal & Disposal: Cornwall Council will initiate their statutory removal process, which can lead to the vehicle being impounded, sold, or destroyed in accordance with local authority regulations.

​Our goal is simply to ensure space is available for the community members and local visitors who rely on the car park every day.

​If you own a vehicle that currently has a notice on it, please take steps and follow the instructions on the notice.

​If you suspect a car in the car park has been left for a prolonged period of time or appears to be abandoned, please report it to us by emailing the parish clerk.

​Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our parish car park tidy, well-managed and free.
