So encouraging to be reminded that God is with us and that he promises to strengthen and uphold us in these troubling times:

Do not fear for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41.10

There is so much going on in the world that can feel overwhelming at this time. I find this bible verse comforting as it reminds me that we are fragile and that it is normal to feel fragile, but it also reminds us of the strength and resilience that God can provide if we turn to him in these uncertain times.

This painting has been a huge influence in my life over the past few years. I am always struck by the different reactions of the people in the same boat in the same situation. Jesus has calmed the storm, but some are still acting as though they are doomed and others are at peace.

Who and what are we looking to in these stressful times? When I feel overwhelmed, I am reminded to look to Jesus who can give us a peace which passes all understanding. The key I have found is to focus primarily on him and to then deal with stress with his help, rather than focusing primarily on the stress and shouting help to Jesus occasionally.

If you are feeling overwhelmed today I would encourage you to look at this art and to consider that Jesus is with you in the storms you are facing. My prayer is that we would all become more open to the peace that he offers in these difficult times.

Join Our Team: Storehouse Pastor
Are you passionate about helping people discover full life in Jesus and bringing practical compassion to our community? WaterWays Vineyard Church is looking for a dedicated Storehouse Pastor to lead and grow our Storehouse ministries in Trowbridge.

This is more than a community role. It is an opportunity to shape a disciple-making culture of service, prayer, invitation, and support for people facing hardship.

What we’re looking for: A strong personal faith in Jesus, proven leadership and organisational skills, confidence working with diverse people and partners, and a heart to see volunteers and service users experience the love of Christ.

The details: Full-time (35 hours/week), based at Emmanuel’s Yard, Trowbridge, with some Sundays and flexibility required.

In our service tomorrow morning (28th December at 10.30am) we will be looking back at the last year.

There will be some time when we are listening to what is being said from the front but also space to consider for ourselves, either in silence, discussion or using the materials on our art table.

In order to help with this, we will be sat around tables in a café style during our time together.

Whether you usually come to church or not, it would be great to see you if you think you would find this helpful.

We had a wonderful time at Carols on Christmas Eve tonight. It was great to see so many of you there.
