Lord,
Let us live loudly through you.
Let us embrace the glorious noise you bring us.
Let us crash with chords and shouts and carry those who struggle with silence.
Let us sing shout, scream our truth, knowing we are accepted, affirmed, belong, for we are your crowd, your concert. Amen
(Kate Ibbeson, Metal Methodist Development Worker)

Pray with us today.

Creator God, we acknowledge your part in composing the stories and the songs of our lives, bringing us into being, and setting before us opportunities to explore and grow into the people you made us to be.

Saviour God, we rejoice at the way in which you bring life and harmony into the stories and songs of our lives, enabling us to discover our true selves through a relationship with you, and giving us the confidence to live life to the full.

Inspiring God, we are thankful for the ability you give us to tell our stories and rehearse the songs of our lives, enabling others to grasp the wonder of how their stories and songs intertwine with yours.

May we always be looking for the new stories and the fresh songs that you have for us to inhabit and sing, as we seek to live our lives in the depths of your amazing grace. In the name of Christ. Amen.

(Gill Newton, former District Chair, Sheffield District)

The day returns and brings us the petty round of irritating concerns and duties. Help us, O Lord, to perform them with laughter and kind faces, let cheerfulness abound with industry. Give us to go blithely on our business all this day, bring us to our resting beds weary and content and undishonoured, and grant us in the end the gift of sleep. Amen
[Robert Louis Stephenson (1850-1894)]

O Lord, give me the patience that throughout this day I give myself time to greet others cheerfully along the way. Give me joy and optimism and an uncomplaining voice. Give me a thankful heart that I may ever be grateful for the wonders of nature. These things I ask in the name of Jesus Christ, your Son. Amen
(Stephen Lambert)

Plunged into the ocean of your love, O God, and walking by faith, let us rest in your promises and receive your Holy Spirit. Amen

Give us, O God, the vision which can see your love in the world in spite of human failure. Give us the faith to trust your goodness in spite of our ignorance and weakness. Give us the knowledge that we continue to pray with understanding hearts, and to do what each one of us can do to set forward the coming of the day of universal peace. Amen
(Frank Borman, Commander of Apollo VIII 1968)

Jesus, like a mother you gather your people to you. In the depth of your mercy, heal us. In the tenderness of your love, remake us. In the compassion of your grace, forgive us. For the beauty of heaven, prepare us. Amen

We pray for those in the active work - presbyters, deacons, lay workers - all who bear the burden of others' troubles, or who are weighed down with a multitude of tasks, and seek to bring the good news of Jesus to an unreceptive world.
Give them the joy of a new song to the Lord.
A song of his goodness, mercy and love, of peace and hope.
A song of the rich complexity of life, past and present, of birth, friendship, love and loss.
A song to sing through everything, that God is faithful and just, God is love and that love endures for ever. Amen
(Rachel Larkinson, supernumerary presbyter, Berkshire and Hampshire Borders Circuit)

Be to us at all times, O Lord, our joy, our bliss and our comfort. Be light in our darkness, strength in our temptations and refreshment in the desert. Penitent may we know your peace, faithful may we behold you in glory. Amen
