A bit about me and what I do
I began playing the piano and organ at an early age, and played for my first church service at Dean Row Chapel, Cheshire, aged 10 in 1966. My first position as organist was at Oakfield Road Unitarian Church, Bristol in 1969 at age 13.
I have since held posts at Tenterden Unitarian Old Meeting House and Northiam Chapel (1974-1983) Oakfield Road Church, Bristol - for the 2nd time - and St George Baptist Church, Bristol (1983-1987) Rolvenden parish Church (1987-1989) Hawkhurst Parish Church (1989-1992) and St Andrew’s RC Tenterden (since 1993) I also play regularly for Tenterden Unitarians, Stone-In-Oxney Parish Church and Woodchurch Parish Church, as well as deputizing in many churches over a wide area. I have experience of all denominations, as well as organs large and small, pipe or digital - and in buildings of all sizes, having played for services in Canterbury Cathedral.
Many crematoria no longer have a resident or rota organist; funeral directors make bookings directly when an organist is required. I am within reach of Charing, Barham, Maidstone, Medway, Hastings and Eastbourne crematoria and am happy to go further afield .
My fees within 25 miles of TN30 7AY are: Funerals £ 95 Weddings £ 120. Mileage charged at 45p per mile over 25 miles. For weddings, the fee includes consultation regarding music and attendance at the Wedding Rehearsal if required. I am happy to play non-traditional music, if suitable for the organ, and subject to the approval of the church’s minister.
