As August is with us lots of things slow down so here is our summer notices with some dates for the diary as we look to the autumn.
SUTTON HILL
Each Sunday morning we continue to worship together our amazing God. On the 30th August it is a fifth Sunday and it will be morning worship. Within this service there will be a space to share what God is doing in our lives, an opportunity to share what it means to follow Jesus. Do you have a piece of artwork, or craft that you have done? A poem, a piece of music, a favourite bible verse? Or do you have a testimony to give? Whatever you choose, if it is something to display, please write a paragraph to go with it explaining why you have chosen that item to share. If it is a spoken testimony then please come and speak to Rev Dawn.
SEPTEMBER!
September will soon be here and with it our groups.
LITTLE FISHES starts back with the schools so our first Monday is the 7th September 9am, blessings to all our families and leaders for a restful and safe summer.
HYGEINE BANK is now also finished until the 3rd September 9.30am, blessing to all those who give their time to organise and meet with people at the Hygiene Bank.
CRAFT FOR CHARITY though will continue throughout August please do join us at 11am. Lots of ideas for new projects and blessings for the amazing work being done not just to make things, but make sure those items get to the right places.
MORNING PRAYER
Now Rev Sue is with us we have decided to start morning prayer each Thursday morning at 9.15am in Sutton Hill Chapel. We will be using the Church of England Daily Prayer App. However, if you do not have access to this the words for the service will be available
SUTTON HILL CENTRE & CHURCH UPDATE
As the project for the rebuilding of the Hub on the Hill starts to take shape in the planning stage, one thing you will see in the next few weeks is a large solid fence going up around the old severn walk building. This is in preparation for this part of the building to be demolished. Throughout this time the Church and the Hub will continue to be open.
Although we are not part of the building project we also have some work to do on our building as at some point the church building will be separated from the Hub building. There is now an opportunity for us to move forward with our building plans with the following main objectives:
1. Future Mission
2. Eco-friendly in line with 2030 including a new roof
3. Security
4. Accessibility
This means we need to start thinking of how we want to do this and what it might look like. We have already applied for 1 grant and other closing dates are on the horizon. But first and foremost we need our church family to come together with ideas for looking at the building for mission and for fund raising. In September we will have a café church and meeting devoted to these next steps. Get your thinking caps on and watch this space. Remember all things are possible with God.
WOODSIDE
CHAT to the VICAR continues on a Wednesday morning where you will find Rev Sue and myself in the WOODY’S CAFÉ at the PARK LANE CENTRE from 9.30am. Before this though please come and join us for CELTIC MORNING WORSHIP in the HAZEL room at 9.15am. This is upstairs but there is a lift for anyone with limited mobility. Celtic worship is based on the words from the morning prayer from the Northumbrian Community Book 1. Messy Church and Worship Nights both return in the autumn too.

Make sure you pop them in the diary so we can join together for Messy Fun after school at the Park Lane Centre in Oaks on these Wednesday’s 14th October and 11th November
WOODSIDE WORSHIP NIGHTS
Do you have a heart for worship, do you have a heart for Woodside? Then join us on these Friday nights to worship and pray together at the Park Lane Centre in Acorns at 6.30-8pm

MUDDY SUMMER
Thank you for joining us for Muddy Church this summer. A special thanks to Daphne and Janet who help every week even when it was at its hottest!
So looking ahead to the autumn MUDDY HARVEST returns on the
6th September in Madeley Orchard at 2pm. The in the October half term we will have MUDDY LIGHT PARTY on Tuesday 27th October at 2pm again in the orchard.
COFFEE MORNING – BREAST CANCER NOW
Many of us have families that have been affected by breast cancer. Rev Sue is organising a Coffee Morning where all money raised will go to this amazing charity to help and support those who have or had breast cancer and research to help treat and catch this cancer earlier.
Save the date of the morning of Friday 28th August 10am -12.30pm in your diaries.
PRAYER FOR THE WEEK
Compassionate God, as the heat of summer intensifies, we pray for safety, cool shelter, and relief for all who suffer under the scorching sun. Protect the vulnerable, outdoor workers, sustain the fire brigade and emergency services. We remember before you the farmers who’s are struggling and for those where fires have effect livelihoods and their home. Grant us a gentle spirit and mindful hearts to care for our neighbours and creation during extreme temperatures and send gentle rain to soak the ground. Amen
