Well done to the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts who this week have been getting ready for camp by learning how to create improvised shelters and pitch tents at the Dr George Rice Community Garden.

The people of Sutton can take pride in this meeting as it celebrates the remarkable journey of our former minister, Sarah Mullally, from St Nicholas Church to the global stage. For us as Anglicans, it validates the strength of local ministry and provides a sense of "roots" in the highest office of the church. For our Roman Catholic brothers and sisters, the Pope's warm reception of a former Sutton rector, accompanied by the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Westminster, signals a new era of practical cooperation and friendship. Ultimately, seeing our former neighbour and the Holy Father pray together for peace should encourage both communities in Sutton to work more closely on local social projects and shared community goals.
