👑 ✝️ Saints of the Day – St John Fisher and St Thomas More

Today we celebrate two remarkable English saints who remained faithful to Christ even when it cost them their lives.

St John Fisher was a bishop and renowned scholar. St Thomas More was a lawyer, statesman and devoted family man.

Both refused to compromise their Catholic faith and conscience during the reign of King Henry VIII. For their fidelity to Christ and His Church, both were executed in 1535.

Their witness reminds us that truth, integrity and faithfulness are worth defending, whatever the cost.

🙏 Prayer: St John Fisher and St Thomas More, pray for all those called to serve in public life and help us remain faithful to Christ in every circumstance.

🌿 Saint of the Day – St Aloysius Gonzaga

St Aloysius was born into a noble family but chose to dedicate his life to Christ rather than pursue wealth and status.

As a young Jesuit seminarian, he cared for victims of plague outbreaks, often risking his own health to help others. Eventually he contracted the illness himself and died at just 23 years old.

He is now the patron saint of young people and students.

His example shows that age is no barrier to holiness.

🙏 Prayer: St Aloysius, inspire our young people to follow Christ with courage and generosity.

✝️ Saint of the Day – St Alban

Today we honour St Alban, the first recorded Christian martyr in Britain.

Alban lived during Roman times and sheltered a Christian priest who was fleeing persecution. Inspired by the priest’s faith, Alban converted to Christianity himself.

When soldiers arrived to arrest the priest, Alban exchanged clothes with him and surrendered in his place. Refusing to deny Christ, he was executed for his faith.

His courage laid the foundations for Christianity in Britain and remains an inspiration to this day.

🙏 Prayer: St Alban, pray for Christians throughout the world who suffer persecution for their faith.

🙏 Prayer Request for Mike Dean 🙏

Please keep Mike Dean in your prayers as he begins a new treatment for motor neurone disease this month.

May the treatment be successful, and may Mike be blessed with strength, comfort and hope in the days ahead.

🌹 Saint of the Day – St Germaine Cousin

St Germaine lived a life of suffering and poverty in 16th-century France. Neglected and mistreated because of illness and disability, she spent her days tending sheep and praying.

Despite her hardships, she remained joyful and deeply devoted to God. She attended Mass whenever possible and shared what little she had with those even poorer than herself.

Her life is a powerful reminder that holiness is not found in wealth or status, but in faithful love of God.

🙏 Prayer: St Germaine, help us to trust God in difficult times and to see His presence in every circumstance.

⛪ Saint of the Day – St Richard of Chichester

St Richard served as Bishop of Chichester in the 13th century. He was known for his honesty, humility and dedication to reforming the Church.

Despite facing opposition and political difficulties, he remained faithful to Christ and devoted himself to caring for the poor and ensuring priests lived holy lives.

His famous prayer remains popular today:

“May I know Thee more clearly, love Thee more dearly, and follow Thee more nearly, day by day.”

These beautiful words continue to inspire Christians around the world.
