Are you honest and truthful in all you say and do? Do you maintain strict integrity in business transactions and in your dealings with individuals and organisations? Do you use money and information entrusted to you with discretion and responsibility? (From Quaker Advices and Queries No. 37 )

I felt I had to sign this petition. I hope you will feel the same. This has gone far beyond the realm of innocent mistakes or the difficult challenges faced by those entrusted with high office. They also have the responsibility to protect all who are innocent, but without power. People lives have been ruined and there is marked reluctance for those with power to do much about remedying this! If you agree with my understanding of what has happened in this dreadful case, please sign this this petition.

The firm at the heart of the Post Office scandal continues to be handed numerous government contracts paid for by millions of taxpayers money despite its role in the Post Office Horizon Scandal. It’s even been named a “key strategic supplier”. No one at Fujitsu has been held accountable, even ...

We were giving away white peace poppies again in St Neots town centre today. I understand that these poppies pre-date the sale of the first red poppies, to remember members of the armed forces who died in war. The difference is that white poppies are to remember all the casualties of war, not just the combatants. This is particularly poignant message at the present time in relation to eastern Europe and the Middle East.

From David Bale:

Next summer will be my first ever visit to Kenya and I am very excited!

I plan to join others from the worldwide family of Quakers at the World Plenary Meeting in South Africa in August 2024 and then travel up to Kenya to visit Friends School Mfangano, which was a tiny infant school in a mud hut when I first met teachers Lavender and Sam online in 2016. At that time, they were combining teaching with health education. They had started their little school because there were so many orphans whose parents had died from HIV/AIDS on Mfangano and the surrounding islands. These children had no families to look after them and Lavender and Sam started feeding them and providing some shelter where they could sleep, because there was no-one else left to look after them. (to be continued...)

Len Thornton, our much loved Clerk who died on 9th May would have been 77 years old today. Wearing his cap, as ever, outside the St Neots Museum in September 2019 making us laugh with his Yorkshire wit, and think with his clear, committed mind!

While efforts to control Covid have been dominating the news coverage we receive, there is a serious danger that we are losing sight of the far greater threat of a man-made climate emergency that looms over us and that cannot speedily be reversed. If we all act swiftly, its worst effects may eventually be mitigated, but enormous damage has already been caused. Some damage, like the huge loss of species is already irreversible. Much, like the destruction of coral reefs may take centuries to begin to undo. It is not a threat that can be tamed by small teams of scientists coming up with an effective vaccine or an easy cure. It is the view of the the overwhelming majority of scientists (huge studies indicate a figure of at least 97% are very concerned. A concerted political will is required to start dealing with this crisis with the urgency that is now required. Please sign this petition to get the message across to our political decision makers.

I've signed the petition calling on Boris Johnson to tackle the climate emergency with the Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill to drastically reduce our emissions. Will you add your name?

We had to bring our White Poppy stall outside St Neots Museum forward to this Wednesday, as it would have been an illegal gathering on Thursday, 5th November.

I ran the stall for two hours from 11.00 to 1.00 pm. By then I had run out of white poppies, having given 55 away with a card or leaflet to some very happy passers-by. Although, I didn’t ask for donations, I also collected £33.55 for the PPU. I shall put a cheque in the post.

Altogether a very satisfactory morning on a bright sunny day.
