🌟The Cake Club Crew - Spotlight on Lisa, Cake Club Volunteer since 2023, Group Facilitator and Health & Safety Officer since 2024 🌟

"While I now have a staff role within Cake Club, I can still be found volunteering at events outside of those I run, as well as supporting at various events and on the Cake Club social media pages.

I initially came on board as a volunteer to ‘give back’ to an organisation that really helped me to find my flow as a new parent, and gave me a space to feel comfortable learning and understanding what being a mother meant for me. I thought I would be mainly helping to make tea, coffee, etc. and then helping to pack up at the end of sessions.

But instead I found l much more than I expected, community; new knowledge, skills, and qualifications; and a space that is understanding and welcoming to all. I found my voice as a parent in society, and I found a platform to support other parents in various aspects of their journey.

Cake Club can absolutely be making hot drinks and packing up toys if that works for you, but it can be so much more, and it has been a journey I never expected, and I am forever different, and better, for it. ❤️"

You can find Lisa at Emmanuel Church this Friday, leading our fabulous Hockley Cake Club crew, offering feeding and sling support (she has trained in ALL THE THINGS) and making sure the toddlers don't eat all the snacks. (Seriously, that's a full time job in itself...) We'd love to see you there too. 💛
