A few months ago, after our morning prayers, I gathered my kids and made a bold declaration:
âToday is a NO SHOUTING day! Everybody, please behave yourselves and be good, obedient children.â
They all nodded innocently⌠âOkay mummy đâ
Hmm.
Not even 10 minutes later, the testing began.
One spilled something. Another scattered toys everywhere. The smallest one started crying for no clear reason.
I kept reminding myself, you said no shouting today, be calm⌠be calmâŚ
I corrected gently. I warned softly. I even started counting in my head like a motivational speaker đŠ
But my people, that did not help my ministry that day at all.
Finally, I reached my breaking point and BOOM đĽ I shouted!
Immediately, KK, my bold and confrontational daughter looked at me and said:
âMummy, I thought you said you wonât shout today?â
And guess what?
I replied WITH ANOTHER SHOUT đđ
At that point, even I knew this âno shoutingâ challenge had fĂ iled woefully.
But hereâs what I learned:
Sometimes, you will set goals as a parent,You will try to be calm, patient, and composed,And still fall short.
And thatâs okay.
Motherhood is not about perfection. Itâs about trying again, and again⌠and again.
Maybe next time, Iâll make it till afternoon before shouting đ
Who else has tried this âno shoutingâ challenge before? Be honest, how did it go? đ
