Thank you all for letting me come and speak to you today.
I am here today to speak to you about a piece of work the Diocese is undertaking in relation to volunteers.
On behalf of the Diocese, I would like to thank all those who have already generously offered be a volunteer in the parish or elsewhere in the diocesan community.
You are providing a gift like no other when you give freely of your time and are a valued member of our community.
Volunteers bring a rich and diverse mixture of culture, life experience and expertise from their communities. You enhance the quality of life of the people we support and hopefully you are also enriched by your generous gift of giving.
It is for that reason the Diocese needs to be clear about who is volunteering and the roles that each of you have.
It is also important that we can offer the right support and training and that your generosity can be acknowledged and recognised.
Over the next few weeks, the Diocese will be collating a comprehensive list of all volunteers. This will be done by a census. All that we ask is that every volunteer supplies a few personal details along with the roles they hold.
The details you will be asked to provide to the Diocese will remain confidential and will only be retained for as long as you volunteer for the Diocese. Your details will not be passed to third parties.
I will be at the back of church to assist you in completing the census forms or accessing the forms electronically.
