In preparation for the work to identify our new vicar, today we enjoyed a visit from Prebendary Helen Dimmock, Ecclesiastical Secretary to the Crown & Lord Chancellor!! (Now that’s a cool job title!). Once a candidate has been selected & accepted the post, Helen obtains approval directly either from the King, or in our case the Lord Chancellor. Her first visit to the area, she wanted to understand the three churches and their aspirations and hopes for each of their communities. She also visited St. Andrew’s school and was impressed by the tremendous work the team are doing for our local children. Her feedback was very positive and we certainly enjoyed spending a few hours with her. Here’s a few photos of the whistle stop tour!

Can you believe it.... it's September tomorrow, where is the year going?? The really good news though is that means it's our All-Together Family service this coming Sunday for us to celebrate and informally worship together!

This time we'll be in the Parish Hall, not church, whilst church is undergoing the internal refurbishment, but don't be concerned, the hospitality team have promised a breakfast every bit as good as in church each first Sunday, so please come and join us and tuck in!

They say a ‘picture is worth a thousand words’, well here’s 15 of them to show the first 15 days of transformation taking place inside St. Andrew’s church! Huge thanks to the Howlett Brothers who are doing a super job for us. Keep up the great work fellas & thank you! 👍

St. Andrew's Refurbishment Update 1

After years of fundraising, praying, planning & negotiating, the work to transform the interior of our beautiful church has started.

On Sunday 9th August we held our last service in church for a few weeks and immediately an army of volunteers (sustained with hot beef cobs) set about preparing for the builders to arrive the following day. As the selection of photos shows, the pews were removed and everything else was carefully and lovingly moved or packed safely and securely away until the building work has been completed later this year. It was the most heartwarming example of the community coming together to achieve a special objective.

The Howlett brothers, who are specialist ecclesiastical builders immediately set about removing the wooden floor plinths and preparing the church floor to be levelled throughout. Amidst lots of digging, dismantling, scraping & filling, in accordance with instructions from the Diocese, their recommended Archaeologist was in attendance for 2 days this week, to monitor the process and prepare his report. After two weeks it now looks like a building site, but the sensitive way in which the builders are making good the floor for levelling is very impressive and we ‘re thrilled at the progress made thus far.

Thank you to everyone who’s made a contribution to this ‘once in a generation’ project, either financially, prayerfully or practically, we are confident the end product will be one we can all be proud of.
In the meantime our Sunday services continue to take place at 10.00am in the Parish Hall on Mansfield Road, Skegby and we’d love for you to join us.

First day of the church refurbishment and we experience the most astonishing event. All the way from Vancouver Canada, Sheri & Don Ward travelled to Skegby to try to find the church and burial site of Don’s Great Great Granddad Matthew Ward, whilst they’re on a tour of the UK. We weren’t able to show them the inside of our church, which is now a building site, but thanks to Church Warden Sue we were able to locate his grave! Don & Sheri were absolutely thrilled, suggesting it’s the highlight of their UK adventure.
