Members of St Peter and St Oswald's were honored to share their memories last week as part of the Nether Edge Primary Schools remembrance activities.

🎖️ Remembering Together at Nether Edge Primary School

Today, our Year 6 pupils took part in a very special assembly to mark Remembrance Day.

We were honoured to welcome a group of local senior citizens - Joan Wragg, Peter Allen, Anne Diver and Phil Lovell - who shared their memories of living through the Second World War.

The visitors spoke about their experiences of the Sheffield Blitz, schools being used as hospitals, and how teachers and children adapted to life in wartime Britain. One of our guests even attended Abbeydale Primary School, as Nether Edge was known in the 1930s.

The session offered our pupils a powerful reminder of the importance of remembrance, community, and learning from those who lived through history.

We are especially grateful to Lola P’s grandfather, who helped to arrange and bring this inspiring group into school.

Lest we forget. 🌺

Come and join us today. See what else happens every Friday in the building too.

Following on from the announcement of the new Archdeacon of Sheffield and Rotherham. St Peter and St Oswald's were pleased to make an announcement of their own yesterday.

From the Bishop's Chaplain:
"After a thorough appointment process the Bishop of Sheffield is pleased to announce the appointment of the Revd Simon Oatridge as Priest in Charge of the Benefice of St Peter and St Oswald Sheffield and Oversight Minister in the EL3 Mission Area."

Simon is currently Curate of the Benefice of All Saints Ecclesall . We look forward to welcoming Simon and Rebecca, as well as their children Rosanna and Jacob as they seek to make the move into the parish of St Peter and St Oswald in the near future.

This appointment is a little different inasmuch as Simon's first task will be the careful and prayerful assembling of a graft team from All Saints Ecclesall and potentially some from other churches to move with him and begin their ministry in this parish too. Therefore, he will spend the next six months or so still based at All Saints Ecclesall and we will seek a licensing date in January 2026.".
