We’re heartbroken by yesterday’s tragedy at Big Church Festival, where a sign fell, injuring several people, one of whom sadly lost their life.

Our team was on site this weekend, and left with heavy hearts.

We know that for many of you, especially those of you who lead and care for young people, this might be something you find yourself helping them process too, hard questions, real fear, grief without easy answers.

“The Lord is near the brokenhearted; he delivers those who are discouraged.” Psalm 34:18

Even here, we believe God’s comfort is real, not instead of the grief, but right in the middle of it.

We’re praying for everyone affected, for the family and friends of the man who died, for those who were injured, and for all involved. We’re also praying for every youth and children’s leader supporting young people as they process what has happened. Would you join us?

Westbrook Centre has just been awarded the 2026 Customer Excellence Award by Education Destination, recognising our range of outdoor activities and the knowledgeable, friendly team behind them. 👏

This place has welcomed young people since 1948, and it's still doing exactly what it was built for - giving groups a place to stay, grow, and build memories together.

We see you, and we want you to know: you don't have to figure this out alone. Whether safeguarding is your whole role or just one part of what you do, we're for you, and we're right there with you.

That's why we started the Safeguarding Community: a space to connect with others who genuinely get it, share what you're learning, ask the questions on your mind, and know you're not the only one navigating this. Including all the church-specific stuff a generic policy document just doesn't cover 🙏
