Let us pray to our Good Shepherd, who knows us and calls us by name.

Almighty God, merciful Father,
since You have wakened from death the Shepherd of Your sheep, grant us Your Holy Spirit that when we hear the voice of our Shepherd we may know Him who calls us each by name and follow where He leads;
through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen

This Sunday’s opening hymn, “The Church’s One Foundation,” was written in 1866 by Anglican priest Samuel J. Stone (1839-1900). As he visited his parishioners, he was struck by their deep devotion, many regularly recited the Apostles’ Creed both in worship and in their daily lives. To deepen their devotional life, he wrote twelve hymns, published as Lyra Fidelium. This hymn was the ninth in that collection, written to explain the phrase “The holy catholic Church, the communion of saints.”

Stone wrote during a time of serious controversy in the Church, when core teachings of Scripture and the Sacraments were being challenged. These struggles are reflected in the hymn’s honest acknowledgment that the Church on earth can appear divided and distressed.

Yet the hymn also proclaims a deeper truth: the Church is one, united in Christ across all time, on earth and in heaven. As we sing, we confess that our unity and our foundation are found in Him alone.

This Sunday’s bulletin artwork is Rembrandt’s The Incredulity of St Thomas (1634), depicting the moment from John 20:19–29 when Apostle Thomas touches Christ’s wounds. The painting draws us into that intimate encounter, reflecting the tension between doubt and faith.

We join together in prayer 🙏

Almighty God,
grant that we who have celebrated the Lord's resurrection may by Your grace confess in our life and conversation that Jesus is Lord and God; through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Readings:
Acts 5:29-42
Psalm 148
1 Peter 1:3-9
John 20:19-31

Christ is risen! We rejoice in the hope and joy of the Resurrection of our Lord, and join together in praying the Collect.

Almighty God the Father, through Your only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ You have overcome death and opened the gate of everlasting life to us. Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of our Lord's resurrection may be raised from the death of sin by Your life-giving Spirit through Jesus Christ, our Lord who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit one God, now and forever. Amen.

On Good Friday, we pause to reflect on the cross and the depth of Christ’s love for the world. We pray the Collect together.

Almighty God, graciously behold this Your family for whom our Lord Jesus Christ was willing to be betrayed and delivered into the hands of sinful men to suffer death upon the cross; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

As we gather on Maundy Thursday, we remember the Last Supper and our Lord’s call to love and serve one another. We join together to pray the Collect.

O Lord, in this wondrous Sacrament You have left us a remembrance of Your passion. Grant that we may so receive the sacred mystery of Your body and blood that the fruits of Your redemption may continually be manifest in us; for You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
