This Sunday, 3rd May 2026, is the Fourth Sunday after Easter.

Our service at Church of St Nicholas, Frankton is Morning Prayer from The Book of Common Prayer, starting at 9am. All are welcome.

For anyone who may be thinking, hang on wasn't it the Fourth Sunday after Easter last Sunday? The answer is no. The Book of Common Prayer makes it easy, referring to Sundays after Easter (you can easily check, as Easter Day was Sunday 5th April). The Church of England now refers to Sundays in a different way, so that last Sunday was referred to as the Fourth Sunday in Easter (not after Easter) because they include Easter Day, and no doubt have some reasons for doing so, but it does cause confusion on occasion.

The Book of Common Prayer has such a lot to offer. Why not come along and find out more?

There will be light refreshment after the service as well, so you will be welcome to tarry for a while after the service.

Good Friday Cross Hunt – St Leonards Church Birdingbury
Friday 3rd April, 10.30am–12.00 noon

Come and drop in at St Leonard’s Church this Good Friday for a relaxed and family-friendly Cross Hunt.

Children can explore the church as they search for hidden items that together tell the story of Holy Week—from Palm Sunday through to the cross.

There’s no formal set programme—just drop in anytime between 10.30 and 12.00, go at your own pace, and enjoy the space.

The Clergy will be around for a chat, the kettle will be on, and there’ll be plenty of chocolate along the way.

Afterwards, from 12.00 noon, there’s the option to head to the Birdingbury Village Club club for fish finger sandwiches as part of a separate church fundraiser.

All are very welcome—whether you come for five minutes or stay a while.

Tomorrow, Sunday 29th March 2026, is Palm Sunday.

Our service at Church of Saint Nicholas, Frankton will start at 9am but is going to be slightly different to our normal services as we head into Holy Week and the lead up to Good Friday.

We will have Palm crosses to hand out and hymns appropriate to Palm Sunday.

There will be a dual theme of Stations of the Cross, in a shorter version than all 14 Stations, with one of the hymns particularly relevant to the Stations of the Cross, followed by a practical session involving Eco Church. That will be the opportunity to discover some of what is involved, so bring your phone, with the Merlin app if possible and a wild flower app or book. There will be light refreshments after the service.

Palm Sunday is effectively the start of Holy Week, which is the most intensely spiritual part of the Church calendar. Every day in Holy Week, there is a different Gospel reading, following the passion story, up to and including Good Friday.

Eco Church will be a bit lighter of course but is part of the Christian duty of care.

Please do come and join us for this service and refreshment. You will be most welcome.

Don’t forget that the clocks go forward during the early hours of Sunday morning so it will feel like 8am but actually be 9am. Don’t let that put you off though.
