Everything’s Coming Together for Our Upcycled Plant Sale & Coffee Morning! Do you have a heart for upcycling, caring for the environment, and helping our community grow and flourish?
Do you love supporting a volunteer‑led group that empowers our young people? Then this is definitely the morning for you!

We’re so excited to share that everything is really starting to come together for our We Are 1 – Young People’s Group Upcycled Plant Sale & Coffee Morning. We’ve already received some fantastic donations of plants, and the team are busy putting together lots of lovely things for the day. A gentle reminder that this event is led by our amazing Young People’s Group, supported by our brilliant volunteers, who are giving their time, energy, and creativity to make the morning special for everyone.

Every penny raised will be shared equally to support:
• St Paul’s Church
• We Are 1 Group
• Cancer Research UK — the group chose this in honour of those who are close to our hearts

Tombola Prizes Welcome!

We would be so grateful for tombola prizes from anyone who feels able to give, to help our children and young people raise as much as they can on the day. Every donation — big or small — makes a real difference and supports their amazing efforts.

Thank you for helping our young people shine and for supporting this special community event.

And he’s off!
Today we’re wishing Brian all the very best as he sets out on the first day of his incredible Summer 2026 walk!

Over the next two weeks, Brian will be walking from Helensburgh on the Firth of Clyde all the way to Lindisfarne — around 180 miles across the John Muir Way and the Forth to Farne Way.
He’s taking on this challenge to raise funds for two causes close to our hearts:
• Accessibility improvements to St Paul’s, Brompton‑on‑Swale
• Tearfund, supporting communities facing poverty and crisis around the world

Let’s keep Brian in our thoughts and prayers as he begins this journey — may the weather be kind, the views inspiring, and his feet mercifully cooperative!

Go well, Brian. We’re cheering you on every step of the way. Please find below Brian's just giving page link:

I know we have so many fantastic knitters in our community, and I’m sure plenty of you would love the chance to support this brilliant initiative for Age UK. I’m very happy to share this on behalf of The FIT Group — well done to them for championing such a meaningful cause.

If you’ve got the skills (or the enthusiasm to learn!), this could be a wonderful way to make a real difference while doing something you enjoy. The FIT Group Age UK

🧶💚 THE FIT GROUP COMMUNITY CHALLENGE – KNIT A SQUARE 💚🧶

At The FIT Group, we're always looking for ways to support our local community and make a difference to those who may need a little extra comfort and kindness.

Our next challenge is simple, creative, and incredibly rewarding...

✨ Knit A Square ✨

We're inviting knitters and crocheters of all abilities to create squares that will be lovingly pieced together into lap blankets for older people supported by Age UK. These blankets provide warmth, comfort, and a reminder that someone is thinking of them.

Last year, our amazing community helped create and donate 35 blankets. This year, however, we're struggling for knitters, so every square really does make a difference.

🧶 Squares can be:
• 7 x 7 inches or 10 x 10 inches
• Knitted or crocheted
• Any stitch pattern you like
• A mixture of colours and textures

Typically, chunky wool on 6mm needles works perfectly, although double knit wool can also be used with 4mm needles and a few extra stitches.

If you'd prefer to create a whole blanket yourself, we'd be delighted to receive completed knitted or crocheted blankets too.

Whether you make one square or twenty, your contribution will help bring warmth and comfort to someone who truly appreciates it.

💚 Every stitch tells a story.
💚 Every square creates comfort.
💚 Every blanket spreads kindness.

If you'd like to take part, please get in touch and we'll provide everything you need to get started.

Let's see how many blankets The FIT Group can create together this year!
