🎳 A great night of ten pin bowling!

Members of Redditch Catenians and their families enjoyed a fun evening at Tenpin yesterday.

Seven Redditch brothers and their wives took part, with plenty of friendly competition along the way. Congratulations to Tony, who won both games - although there were a few suggestions that he may have been a bit of a ringer! 😄

Social events are a big part of Catenian life, giving members and their families the chance to relax, have fun and enjoy good company together.

Membership is open to Catholic men, and if you’d like to find out more about joining Redditch Catenians, please get in touch:

A most enjoyable evening last night at The Tardebigge. Excellent food as always and great company. We had great pleasure in enrolling a new brother into Redditch Circle, Mark Carter-Greaves who was welcomed by Circle President Roger Duggan. We also welcomed 3 visiting brothers from Leamington Spa Circle including their President David Mcloughlin (centre) who gave an excellent toast supported by 2 Redditch brothers 1 acting as Chairman for the evening and the other toasting the visitors.

Several Redditch Catenian Brothers enjoyed a regular beer and curry night when they met up on Friday night at Headless Cross. After a few beers they had a meal at Redditch Spice. The staff were very helpful tailoring each dish to accommodate their needs. A good night was had by all!

Most enjoyable albeit hot evening at The Tardebigge for our Redditch Catenians Circle meeting. It was a ladies night so many brothers brought their wives to enjoy the excellent 3 course meal. We also had the pleasure of 4 visiting brothers from Solihull and City of Birmingham 64 circles, they were joined by a visiting gentleman Mark who wants to become a Catenian next month!

Enjoyable day at Warwickshire County Cricket Club in Edgbaston, in the sunshine for 4 Redditch Catenians.

Disappointing that England didn't put up a good show losing the first One Day International against India. Great atmosphere, friendship and good fun.

Meet a Catenian: John Casey

For our first Meet a Catenian feature, we’re pleased to introduce John Casey, who has been a member of the Redditch Catenians since 1991.

John joined after being drawn to the chance to meet and socialise with like-minded Catholic men from a wide range of ages and backgrounds. More than 30 years later, that sense of friendship is still what stands out most to him.

Through the Catenians, John has made friends not only within the Redditch Circle, but across other Circles in the West Midlands too. His wife Linda has also made many new friends through the social side of Catenian life.

Before retiring, John spent 40 years working as an insurance broker, and says the Catenians offered a welcome opportunity to relax, unwind and enjoy good company away from the pressures of work.

Sport has always played a big part in John’s life. He keeps active by playing tennis for Bromsgrove and golf for Redditch, and he enjoys holidays with family and friends - especially when there’s a golf course involved! He is also a keen cricket fan, enjoys watching England, and - in his own words - he used to enjoy watching West Ham play football!

Family is hugely important to John and Linda. They have three adult children - Catherine, Nicola and Thomas - and seven grandchildren, so time spent with family is always precious.

John’s story is a great example of what the Catenians are all about: friendship, family, faith and fellowship - with plenty of shared interests and good company along the way.

If you’re a Catholic man in the Redditch area and would like to find out more about the Catenians, John and the rest of the Circle would love to meet you.
