⛔ Road Closure – Blounts Court Road, Sonning Common, RG4 9NH ⛔

We have been notified by Oxfordshire County Council that a
Road Closure is in place to a length of Blounts Court Road for S278 Planning Work including; resurfacing, pot hole repairs, kerbing, drainage and junction improvements at the bell-mouth entrance to Widmore Park.

📅 Date: Monday 15 June 2026 up to and including Sunday 28 June 2026. This is a 24 hour daily road closure.

📍 Location: Blounts Court Road, Sonning Common. Junction of Widmore Lane for 470m.

Exemptions are included for emergency services, for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. Access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians.

Alternative route for traffic:
via Peppard Road → Sonning Common Road→ Kiln Road → Emmer Green Road → Blounts Court Road and vice-versa

Widmore Pond – Volunteers Needed Tomorrow 💧🌿
We will be carrying out another pumping operation at Widmore Pond tomorrow, and we are looking for volunteers to help throughout the day.
We need support with:

🚧 Traffic management
👷 Setup in the morning
✅ Pack up at the end of the day

If you’re able to spare some time – even for a short period – it would be greatly appreciated. Having enough people on hand helps us run the operation safely and effectively.
📅 Time: 08:30 - 16:00
📍 Widmore Pond

We’re proud to share how areas of Memorial Park are now Managed for Wildlife 🐝🌼
Instead of cutting everything back, we’ve allowed certain spaces to grow more naturally – creating rich habitats for pollinators, insects, and other wildlife. As you can see from the photos, these areas are really starting to thrive 🌱✨
These changes help support biodiversity, improve soil health, and bring more life into our green spaces for everyone to enjoy.

🌞 Village Day Needs You – Sunday 28th June! 🌞
Sonning Common Parish Council is looking for a few more friendly faces to help with car parking at Village Day 🚗
It’s a really simple role – helping direct cars and collecting parking donations – and it makes a huge difference to keeping this much-loved community event running (and free to attend!)
🗓 When: Sunday 28th June
⏱ Flexible hourly slots between 10:00am – 5:00pm
✅ You can volunteer for as little as one hour
👥 Work alongside others – no experience needed
😊 Full briefing and support provided
