It's such an amazing comfort to know that Jesus prayed a fundamental and powerful prayer just before he was betrayed and captured. In John Ch 17 , we read of a request direct from his heart to the Fathers heart. And as believers we are part of the answer! Jesus pointed out that he is one with The Father and wanted us to be one with him so that there is complete unity. In verse 14 he reminds us that he has given us Gods Word. But not everyone receives it. The World shuns the truth and in fact hates those who believe and carry it into their lives. So God knows that there is perfect security in being "In Christ". When we are in Christ we are in The Father and sealed by The Holy Spirit. That's a place of protection from the evil one as well (V15). Also in this wonderful centre of Gods heart is the fact that he is forming us more and more into Christ-like believers. (V17/18). Sounds like a great place to be doesn't it! Chapter 17 begins with The Lords prayer for the disciples but then in V20 he opens it up to include all believers. This morning we also heard that these truths can really challenge our thoughts and attitude towards others. Perhaps particularly in relation to brothers and sisters in other denominations and groups? V23 speaks of the ultimate goal of the truths we have just looked at - "complete unity" and then in the same sentence directly links this as a way of proving that Jesus has come from The Father and loves us. Powerful stuff! The motive behind the idea of unity is surely - The Love of God. We will display the love of the Father through the love of the Son and share this love with others. This has the power to unify! Then we will be the salt of the earth and bring the flavour of Gods love to all around us. Amen.

Pentecost. What a difference a day makes! You have to admire and relate to the disciples who were following our Saviour around during the years of Jesus's ministry here on earth. Remember that they didn't choose him. The Bible tells us that He chose them in the first instance - to go and bear fruit. We admire them because they were with him first hand. We relate to them because they so often "Didn't get it! " No wonder they fell headlong in love with him because of his words and mighty works and overall his wonderful love. So they were understandably cut to the heart when he started talking about his ultimate suffering and death. But before he ascends to The Father he gives them an amazing promise. "In a few days you will be baptised with The Holy Spirit and fire. " This changes everything and I mean everything! The promise was great but the fulfillment is what counts! God always fulfills his promises. So this day he tells those present (and all of us today) He's still with us! Today if you are going though hard times and God seems distant - He is with you! The Bible also describes him as The Counsellor . He understands and desires to help and guide you through this life. Pentecost was also a day of transformation and equipping. Peter is surely the example of this. Quick to answer. Quick to sometimes come to wrong conclusions. But one answer was key. When asked who he thought Jesus was his reply was "I say you are the Messiah. The Son of God." And God goes on to choose him to be the rock on which he would build his church. Dear friends - Church was always part of Gods plan. This same Peter is transformed into a powerful preacher and in the power of the Holy Spirit , three thousand people come to faith in Christ! This from the man that denied the very one he was preaching about! That's what I call transformation! Dear friend - Do you want to be transformed? Do you want to reach your full potential in God? Are you willing to let him be in the driving seat? He is willing. Am I? What a difference a day can make!

Great meeting this morning when we heard about the different stages in our lives and where we are at any one moment. If we jump into the time machine of our journey we can see how God has been with and worked through us in our past, present and future. The Word of God has something to say about every one of these windows into our lives. We heard from Romans 8 v 18 onward where Apostle Paul puts our present position (perhaps with suffering) into perspective when we consider the promise of an eternity living together in the presence and Glory of God. We are then told that even creation groans with us as we wait for our final redemption of our bodies (v23). Take the time machine back to the beginning in Genesis when the first man disobeyed God and thereby creating an opportunity for sin and separation from a relationship with him. But God had a plan. He always had a plan. And its a plan full of selfless love. A rescue mission sending his one and only Son into the world to seek and save the lost. By faith in Jesus Christ we can be forgiven and live a new life in him. So we may look back to a moment when we heard this good news and made a decision to turn away from our old life and commit to following Christ. Now in the present we have The Holy Spirit to enable us to continue our walk with him. And as if that isn't enough, the bible describes very powerfully how our future looks and more explicitly WHO we will spend it with! The book of Revelation wonderfully describes the ultimate home and destination of all born again believers--The New Jerusalem --A cube city around 1400 X 1400 X 1400 miles! Its Shining with the Glory of God and made of pure gold as pure as glass (Ch21 v15) . What a promise! What a future! So dear church...we are who we are today but not what we were yesterday and we will be different tomorrow - All by the grace of God. But we can put this all into perspective as we walk along the road knowing that Jesus Christ is always by our side and that we are children of the promises of God. Praise God!

Revival. Now there's a word that sits in the believers heart and mind in a box named "Hope". It's surely something that we would all love to see and experience. A mighty move of The Holy Spirit to fall upon us so that everyone is literally moved to turn away from their old ways and receive the new life that Jesus purchased for us on the cross. There are many books describing many such outpourings over the centuries. You might be thinking that all have started from some amazingly powerful preaching but not so. We heard this morning that the Apostolic church revival was launched when The Lord heard and responded to the faith of one woman who simply expressed her love for The Lord. Something about the beauty and power of her testimony started a Holy Spirit fire that others caught hold of and it spread all around. Praise God! We then heard the testimony of a great man of God from 2 Chronicles 7 v14 "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." Look at the key words here addressed to the ones called by his name - humble - pray - seek - Turn. They are our part. Now his part - Forgive & Heal! Whilst we definitely don't want this to be turned into a formula this word only echoes the words of Jesus Christ in the New testament. "The Humble will be exalted" and when the Apostle Paul is happy to admit his weaknesses and imperfections so that God's nature and power can be proved powerfully through him! It's no coincidence then that God chose to work powerfully through him and others who above all wanted to serve and honour him. King Solomon was mightily used by God but needed to be reminded that God is the only one who really knew where he stood in his heart and mind. This isn't cause and effect. God is sovereign and ultimately decides what to do or not to do. He can bring a revival whenever and however he wills. Lord please help us whilst we wait upon you for revival , to keep short accounts of our old ways and turn to your grace for forgiveness and humble ourselves in favour of your power and will. And to pray and to keep on praying for you to fall upon us again in power. We so want your name to be heard and revered again in our nation as the true living God! Amen

Powerful faith building message this morning! We began from Hebrews chapter 11 - "Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we don't see". Three very powerful words there - Confidence- hope- assurance. The wonderful thing about the Word of God is that it doesn't just make a statement like that without giving us loads of real life examples. Its like - This is the title and what follows will help you see that its actually possible to live by this stuff called faith! So on to V8 onwards - Abraham hears from God. A lot. And here's the thing - He takes him by his word (Not always but mostly!) He's sent to places and situations without having all the details beforehand. Often waiting years to see the outcome of Gods instruction. And its the bit between the promise and the outcome that is - let's face it - The real challenge to our faith. This fact shows true when he agrees to sleep with a slave named Hagar and bypass God's plan by enforcing his. (Genesis Ch 16). Now here is a most wonderful thing - despite when he gets in the way and causes problems, God is still true to his promise. Gen 17 V18) A son named Isaac born to Sarah (aged 90!) (even though he is now 100 years old!). If God makes a covenant (agreement), he never goes back on his word. Isn't that an encouragement to us all as believers that wherever we are - whatever is going on at present - whatever we are going through - he has a plan that will unfold in his time. Lets hang on to him and his word - in faith of who he is and what he has promised. Amen

There are some things in life that leave a powerful impression upon us. You could pick up a shiny jewel that on the surface looks just like a beautiful diamond but when examined by a trained expert turns out to be a cleverly disguised piece of paste. If we stop to examine the basis for our christian walk we can only be the "Real thing" if everything we do comes from our faith in the one who is the only Real God. Namely Jesus Christ! We heard this morning that this fact carries on to how we approach prayer and ministry to others. We all "minister" to one another in some way or other. There are numerous examples in scripture of where ministry has been effective and others a disaster! One such example is in Acts Chapter 19 v.13 where some Jews who had heard about Jesus and his disciples performing miracles including casting out demons. Their attitude was - "Lets have a go at this ourselves". They took what was happening as a prescription for success by thinking that the name of Jesus was just the means to an end. This didn't end well! The demons knew that the prayers were not based on true faith in Jesus but only the required result! They ended up being bruised and battered by the very demons they were hoping would bow to them! Another example was read from Matt 17 v14 where Jesus heals a demon possessed boy. The disciples are quite upset that they couldn't drive it out. So Jesus reminds them that faith is the key. Its always good to be reminded that all that we practice as bible believing disciples needs always to be based on our relationship with God and not a man made prescription. Let's all encourage one another to wait upon him and then step out? Amen

One of the wonderful things about being a follower of Jesus Christ is the absolute faithfulness of God and how he is 100 percent committed to loving us and looking out for us. We heard today from Matthew 18 v10 onward and we immediately see how much he values us. We are told not to despise these "little ones". It's easy perhaps to assume that he is only referring to children but just before this chapter we are told that unless we change and become like little children we will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. So we are the children of the Living God and as such our Father God is the great equaliser when it comes to our worth in him. So we are rightly told that we should have the same attitude to others We are not to look down on them but see them from his point of view. To make this an even stronger message we then learn that there are angels in heaven surrounding and watching over us and them! These ministering spirits are continually looking out for us - Serving The Lord. No wonder then that the next few verses tell of a shepherd leaving the 99 sheep and going to find 1 who has gone astray. Our wonderful saviour takes delight in reaching out to his followers who have strayed off the path. As we walk with him may we keep very close to him and follow in his footsteps but also watch out for those who need our help and TLC.
Perhaps then we can join in with the The Lord and his angels in rejoicing when a lost sheep returns to the fold!

It's no coincidence that some of the last words that Jesus spoke before ascending back to the Father are recorded here in the last few verses of Matthew ch 28. He's saying it's not over by any stretch of the imagination. In fact it's just the beginning. The beginning of what? The beginning of the command for us to now go and tell others what we know but more importantly WHO we know! We heard this morning from these important verses and it's interesting to see the reaction of some who were listening. v17 says that they worshipped him but some doubted. Amazing to think that there was still some unbelief even after all the ministry of healing and miracles that many had witnessed whilst walking and following him. No wonder he had to remind them that all authority in heaven and earth had been given to him. Their faith in who he is and the authority he has is going to be key to any outreach they were going to attempt. Especially also that the disciples were to pass on and teach others everything that they were commanded. Quite a big ask! The next few words are such a great comfort in view of all this....He promises to be with us always to the very end of the age. Thank God he sent The Holy Spirit to be with us and to empower us to fulfill this great commission. May we take hold of this promise and ask him to grant us many opportunities to share the good news of Jesus Christ. What a gift we have in him - May others also receive the gift as we step out in faith and tell them the reason we have this amazing eternal joy. Amen

Good Friday. A day sometimes described as an important day for the Christian calendar. But it's so much more than that. This morning we heard from the Bible passages leading up to the account of Jesus's crucifixion and in between we sang worship. Each part reminding us of the fact that he paid the ultimate price and he did it out of his selfless love for us. We deserve nothing but he has given us everything! We then heard from Luke 23 v44 to 47 - Facts: Noon until 3 - Darkness over the whole land: Earthquakes: The Sun stopped shining: And most significantly, the curtain of the temple was torn in two. In Old testament times, the presence of God could be found in the Holy of Holies - a room set apart in the temple where only the High Priest was able to enter and directly commune with God. The fact that this was torn signifies that the Christ would open up the way to God for everyone and anyone who would put their faith and trust in him. No longer the need for any other sacrifice or human priest. He is about to bridge the gap that our sin produced by taking that sin upon himself. For God so loved the world, he gave his only Son so that those who believe would not perish but have eternal life. (John 3 v 16) . His death has brought us life! At this Easter time may we never forget the price he paid for us but recall daily the greatest love ever shown - On the cross.

29/03/2026

What a wonderful morning of praise and worship! We are mightily blessed! We heard this morning from Luke 6 v27 onwards. Surely there are few passages more challenging than this one - to love our enemies. When love is shared and reciprocated, Its much easier for it to flow. We can love the lovable! How much harder when the one who has hurt us or is against everything we are and represent, is the one that God requires us to love! In V27, Jesus wants to emphasize the importance of this message by suggesting that not everyone would receive it but only those who were "Listening". He knew how challenging this would be. But here's the thing - If he asks us to do it, it must be possible. But only in his strength. We also heard about forgiveness. Love and forgiveness are bound together when we desire to love our enemies. Let's not pretend that its easy! If you have ever prayed - "Lord, make me more like you" - Inevitably we will be challenged in these areas. Our Saviour had only one motive when he went to the cross for us - Love. And he was often "Despised and rejected" (Isaiah 53:3). The way he was treated he would be perfectly entitled to roll up his sleeves and return to the bosom of his Father and leave us all to our sins. Instead his love is so selfless he is able to say these amazing words even whilst suffering indescribable pain ..."Forgive them for they know not what they do". Oh Dear Lord - Please help us to live out our lives showing this selfless love and forgiveness to others - we can't do it without you. Amen.
