I believe it’s a strategic time for the worshippers in this city to draw together and facilitate a time and space for simply worshipping the Lord, for lifting the Name of the Lord high through praise, thanks-giving and prophetic song. In one hand I had my guitar, and I was conscious of having to walk quickly to get to my destination on time. It was the usual misty, damp day! At the bottom of North
Hill where the Arts College stands, in my dream, was an old Church of England building, and I quickly opened the heavy old door. Inside there was a completely different atmosphere than outside, there was a peace, a beautiful light, and a real presence of the Lord. The church was entirely carpeted out. There were no pews, it was like a big space. At the front of the church there was a worship leader singing with a band playing surrounded by a small group of people who were all worshipping. It was different to what I had expected, this was not a bunch of people waiting for me to lead them, it was the opposite, they were so lost in worship, they hadn’t even noticed me come in, and definitely weren’t ready to stop. I myself was feeling a little rushed and out of place with everyone else who was just focused on the Lord and enjoying His presence. As there was no rush for me to take over leading, I thought ‘when they need me they can come and get me’. There were comfortable seats in the walls of the building under the windows, laid out with sturdy red cushions. I quietly put down my guitar and lay down and let His presence bring me rest. I then woke up, and the impression has never left me. I believe it came from the Lord and it was a glimpse of something He would have us birth in this city of Plymouth. Different things in the dream stood out:
1) The place of worship
2) One worship leader handing over to another, I wasn’t having to start something I was having to continue something.
3) No other agenda other than to worship the Lord, this was something that was not rushed.
4) Other worshippers had gathered
5) A place to enjoy and rest in His presence 1
6) The place of sanctuary: The difference between the atmosphere in the outside world and in the church.
7) The site of the church in my dreams was where the Arts College stands and the college I believe represents a place of creativity, experimenting and colour.
8) When I was drawn into visiting the Arts College later, I saw on their publicity material: ‘made in Plymouth’. The Lord wants to do a ‘new thing’ here in Plymouth. I have shared this vision of 24/7 worship with the leaders in Churches Together in Plymouth and other church leaders and worship leaders over the last few months, but I am keen to spread the word across the city. It is important that it is available as a city thing rather than just involving a few churches. I have attached a PDF below with more details. Thank you for taking the time to read this. If this is something you would like to explore further I would love to meet with you and talk more. Please feel free to forward this e-mail to anyone you think would also be interested. Many blessings
