The summer holidays are here which means a break from our weekly kids clubs!!

We have had such an incredible year seeing so many children come along and hear the gospel.

None of this would be possible without our incredible teams of volunteers that bring the energy and enthusiasm every week! A massive thank you to all of you… you are incredible!

Looking forward to starting everything back in September!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

We are not just singing a song. 🎵
We are not just having a fun dance.🕺
We are singing and dancing for Jesus! 🙌🏻

For some reason leading children in prayer and encounters can seem daunting to some. But actually it’s really simple.

I totally get it. We wonder if they are actually taking it in and there have been many times where I am leading with my hands raised, closing my eyes and then taking a look and see everyone just stood there. 😳

But through simple explanations about why we worship and consistency in leading the same songs you can create a culture of worship and prayer in your kids ministry. Consistency is key. Make changes when necessary but don’t give up.

Know your why and know the importance of it. Remember you are raising disciples and we can’t do that without the Holy Spirit.

How are you investing in young leaders? 🌟

I wonder how many of us can remember a person that invested in us back in our teenage years. That person who saw something in you that you didn’t see in yourself.

A lot of our young people are surrounded by comparison and insecurity. They need someone to come alongside them, encourage and empower and release them to discover their gifts.

🌟 Attend youth sessions regularly
🌟 Pray and choose 5 or more young people to invite to be a part of your team
🌟 Ask them for ideas in your programme development
🌟 Give them opportunities to lead not just help.

Invite young people to help within your children’s ministry and invest in a generation of leaders!

The great commission! 🏆

Some of us may look at this scripture and think ‘it’s not for me’ or ‘I can’t do that.’
But let’s remember the first part of the scripture ‘All authority has been given to me’

This means that we CAN do it because it’s not our strength and confidence we rely on. All things are possible through Him and His authority. 🙌🏻🔥

This command isn’t just for me. It isn’t just for you. It’s for everyone who believes in Him.

Go!
Be obedient.
Be faithful.
Make disciples in His name!

How do we build, train and maintain a fantastic volunteer team!

This must be one of the biggest challenges in children’s ministry and something we all struggle with. I still don’t have the greatest method but I am so thankful for the team that we do have.

Recruiting volunteers is something that takes prayer, patience, and empowerment. It’s not just about filling a need but it is about helping others to grow in their gifting and God given purpose.

I believe we need a change of heart posture in recruiting volunteers. It doesn’t have to be stressful or challenging. A simple change in strategy and rhythms can change it to being a joyful experience.

Yes I did say joyful experience! 😊😉

Here are my top tips:
🌟Recruit 3-4 times a year
🌟Don’t just recruit from the platform
🌟Empower them to grow in their gifting
🌟Have a clear mission and values that your team can follow and come alongside in serving.
🌟Build a culture of celebration and family.

How easy is it for us to fall into the trap of doing everything ourselves?
How easy is it to think ‘It would have been done a lot quicker if I did it’

We could easily do everything ourselves but what we don’t realise is that we are creating a massive problem for the future of our ministries. (And burning ourselves out in the process)

We need to be really intentional about raising leaders and giving them safe spaces to grow in their gifting.

I remember when I first started I was not good at all. I was young and inexperienced. But someone invested in me. Someone trusted me. Someone empowered me to go beyond what I could see in myself.

Raising leaders doesn’t just help the future of your ministry but it helps the future of the whole church.

Wherever I go, I ask the question: What is the biggest challenge/frustration within children’s ministry. And the most common answer….. Team.

So how do we build team well?
How do we recruit from a place of strength rather than desperation?
How do we empower?
How do we think ahead?
How do we train well?

These are all questions worth discussing and sharing ideas on.

Why do we need to do outreach children’s ministry? ✨
