Oxford Street Pastors

Oxford Street Pastors Helping, caring and listening on Oxford's Streets as our response to God's love for the whole world and all its people.

Street Pastors is an inter-denominational Church response to urban problems, engaging with people on the streets to care, listen and dialogue. It was pioneered in London in January 2003 by Rev Les Isaac, Director of the Ascension Trust, and has seen some remarkable results, including drops in crime in areas where teams have been working. There are now over 100 teams around the United Kingdom. Each

city project is set up by Ascension Trust and run by a local coordinator with support from Ascension Trust and local churches and community groups, in partnership with Police, Council and other statutory agencies.

Tonight, our Team heads out into the city centre on the final Friday before Christmas. We are there to offer a calm presence, a listening ear and practical help to anyone who needs it.

We are reminded that this season is about love, kindness and hope - right where people are.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers, who give up their evening to serve and thank you to all our supporters.

Please keep our team and our city in your prayers as Christmas approaches ❤️🙏

Street Pastors is a non-denominational, Christian response to urban problems. By engaging with people on the streets, Street Pastors volunteer their time to care, listen and converse with anyone who may need support. Street pastors are from all walks of life aged between 18 and 80+.

This informal information evening is for anyone thinking about becoming a street pastor. You will find out more about the street pastor movement, what they do and the different situations they face when on patrol. You will also learn about the training involved and have the opportunity to chat to our team.

‘I wanted to get involved because I heard about it after going to church for many years – you sit there and think “How can I help?”’
