St George in the Meadows Nottingham

On 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟰 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 at our 10.00am Mass we keep the solemnity of the birth of our secondary patron, 𝗦𝘁 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁. A St John's Church stood in Leenside from 1844 until 1941 when it was destroyed in the Nottingham Blitz. After this its former parish (which includes Nottingham Train Station) became part of our parish, hence our parish name is: "The Parish of St George in The Meadows, with St John the Baptist, Leenside".

Here is a beautiful painting of St John's Church sitting in Leenside, hanging in one of our parishioner's houses, and a photo of the church before and after the Blitz. After our Sacred Heart devotion on Friday, and our CBS Festival on Saturday, we were just a few shy of 100 attending Mass yesterday morning as we gathered together as one church family for Holy Mass at 11.00am. Such a blessing to welcome Amelia into the family of God!

The outpouring of joy in our parish continues this week with Mass at 6pm today (Monday), 10am on Wednesday, and 12 Noon on Friday. All are welcome!

A joyous day! With thanks to The Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament for holding their National Festival today in Nottingham, and to be inspired by The Parish of Swindon New Town and Fr Stebbing of Community Of The Resurrection Mirfield.

A joyous weekend is upon us. Having prayed the Litany of the Sacred Heart at Mass today, we welcome the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament for their National Festival tomorrow (Noon - all welcome). And then on Sunday we have a Baptism at our 11.00am Mass (all welcome). Thanks be to God for his abundant blessings!

We have previously circulated communications regarding concerns relating to Peter John Holland (deceased), a former member of our congregation, who was convicted in 2011 of multiple criminal offences against children within Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

We are very keen to hear from you or anyone you know who has been affected either directly or indirectly by the actions of Peter Holland.

All allegations or concerns of abuse, whether recent or non-recent, are taken seriously by St George in the Meadows and the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham. We would also like to ensure that appropriate support is offered.

A reminder that there is no Mass tonight at St George's. Masses this week are Tuesday 6pm (at University of Nottingham), Wednesday 10am, Friday Noon, Saturday Noon, Sunday 11am.

This Sunday at St George's all are welcome to join us at 11.00am for a Sung Mass for Corpus Christi, a day when we are invited to deepen our reverence for the mystery of Communion, and to proclaim our faith in Christ's abiding presence.

Next week's services are:

• Wednesday 10.00am, Mass
• Friday 12 Noon, Angelus, Litany of the Sacred Heart, and Mass
