On ๐ช๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ ๐๐๐ป๐ฒ at our 10.00am Mass we keep the solemnity of the birth of our secondary patron, ๐ฆ๐ ๐๐ผ๐ต๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๐๐. A St John's Church stood in Leenside from 1844 until 1941 when it was destroyed in the Nottingham Blitz. After this its former parish (which includes Nottingham Train Station) became part of our parish, hence our parish name is: "The Parish of St George in The Meadows, with St John the Baptist, Leenside".
Here is a beautiful painting of St John's Church sitting in Leenside, hanging in one of our parishioner's houses, and a photo of the church before and after the Blitz. At the Mass we will remember the generations of worshippers and priests who served this parish over its nearly 100 year life. Click on the first comment to read more about the Nottingham Blitz.
