The Ringing World National Youth Competition 2026 Peter's Church, NG1 2NW Saturday 4th July

What does it mean for St Peter's

St Peter's has been identified as a “Flagship Tower” for the day. This is essentially because it is a City Centre church with 12 bells. As such, we are expecting to host most, if not all teams during the day.

Each team will have a “slot” given to them where they can turn up for ringing. The ringing will be run by a number of experienced volunteers provided by the competition committee and there will be a number of experienced volunteers helping with the trickier bells such as the treble and tenor (the lightest and heaviest bells in the tower).

Overview of the Competition
The RWNYC is at it’s core, a bell ringing competition where teams from all over the country where are aged 19 and under compete to see who can produce the best ringing.

The day involves competition ringing (which this year will be taking place in Clifton and Greasley) and also “General Ringing” where the competition committee try to give young ringers an opportunity to experience ringing on larger rings of bells than they may otherwise have opportunities to ring.

The Competition has been running since 2011 and has picked up momentum considerably over the time it’s been running. In terms of the number of attendees/ringers attending a single event, it one of the biggest events in the “bellringing calendar”. We are expecting 30-40 teams of 6-8 members sign up from all over the country, usually teams represent their local ringing association, so in Nottingham’s case, we have a team representing “The Southwell and Nottingham Diocesan Guild of Bellringers”

We are pleased to be welcoming back performers from Repton School and pianist Ed Hogkinson, both regulars at our concert series, alongside the Nottinghamshire Police Band and Philip Miles, the Organ Scholar at St Mary's Church.
